Hi-Time Wine Cellars Wine Bar Schedule

Hi-Time's wine bar is open Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday with the times and schedule of the tastings listed below.  The third Wednesday of every month we have a beer tasting. The "U-Serve" bar is open daily where customers can taste from a selection of current wines featured in our newsletter for around $1 per taste.  If you are interested in a corporate or private group tasting at our wine bar, please click here for more information. There is no more sharing/splitting of wine tastings. Also: Please refrain from wearing perfume/cologne as it can interfere with one of the key components of wine tasting: the sense of smell! Thanks.

September: Cheese of the Month

Prefere de Fromi (Previously named Reblochon)

Reblochon is a soft washed-rind cheese made from cow’s milk. The cow breeds best for producing the milk needed for this cheese are the Abondance, Tarentaise and the Montbéliarde. Produced from the day’s second milking, this cheese measures 14 cm across and 3–4 cm thick, has a soft centre with a washed rind and weighs an average of 450g. As proof of its being well-aged in an airy cellar, the rind of this cheese is covered with a fine white mould. The optimal period to savour this cheese is between May and September after it has been aged six to eight weeks. It is also excellent from March to December. Reblochon has a nutty taste that remains in mouth after its soft and uniform centre has been enjoyed. It is an essential ingredient of tartiflette, a Savoyard gratin made from potatoes, cream, onions, and ham.

GRGICH TASTING
Saturday, September 5, 2010

Hey! Are you curious about organic and biodynamic wines and how these practices benefit vineyards down to the consumer? Come pay a visit to our wine bar on September 5, 2010, when Ivo Jeramaz of Grgich Hills will be pouring a fantastic lineup of Grgich biodynamic wines. Grgich Hills began organic farming back in the year 2000. By 2006 all 366 acres were certified organic and had been converted to biodynamic farming making Grgich this country’s largest biodynamic producer. So come on in, taste some delicious wines, and get a lesson on biodynamics courtesy of Ivo from one of Napa’s most trend setting wineries. Wine Bar Hours: 2 to 8:30 p.m. Cost: $25
