of only three gold medals awarded at the 2011 IWSC (Int'l Wine and Spirits Competition, UK). So I guess I am not alone in my estimation of this whiskey -- it is tasty. It's rated higher than Pappy Van Winkle 23 (only 1 point, but that stuff is $230). The nose shows proportionate aromas of baked stone fruit, raisin and citrus faultlessly interlinking with smoke dried tea and roasted nuts. These daedal scents are provocative, inviting and attractively carried onto the palate, evolving to include cocoa, coffee, vanilla, caramel, honey, over-ripe tree fruit and supple nuances of leather — or, in a word, stunning. The finish displays these luxurious refinements tardily as if reluctant for them to leave, they tarry — keeping on, continuing to give... with only baking spice to remain and awe-inspiring whiskey to be shown.

he established himself as a purveyor of the highest quality wines and spirits; what he was most connected to and the only product that bears his family name is Hardy Cognac. Five generations later, Hardy is synonymous with superior Cognac recognized the world over for its dimension and praised for the meticulous skills and the heritage of their cellar masters. Noces D’Or is fittingly named for the joyous occasion of a 50th wedding anniversary; it is a blend of over 40 Grande Champagne Cognacs, each of which were aged at least 50 years. The rich, resplendent aromas of raisins stewed in honey-dusted with clean spice and served in a wood bowl lure with plushly evocative enticements that are so familiar and yet so incredibly exquisite. On the palate it is satiny and smooth with limpid complexity showing recherché fruits, sumptuous oak demonstrations, caramel, honey, candied nuts and mature spices that linger. The finish dawdles long enough to restate the glorious flavors, then spectacularly shifts to dryer tones of tea, tobacco, honey and wood nuance. This Cognac is luxuriously layered in a graciously articulate elegance. Try this neat, with a friend and time to ponder.

extracts the agave in its initial stage without harmful by-products from the traditional burning of wood. The super pure tasting Silver is a grand testimony to this technology. On the nose, sweet brown sugar and mouth-watering agave tones combine with peaches and cherry notes. The palate is clean, with hints of tobacco, bread dough and peppered peaches. An adrenaline inducing spirit forward presentation with an unmistakable paradox: A delicate balance allows for the retention of layered flavors and notes that sing within the body, a very rare accomplishment for this Silver as the classic distillation process of Silvers doesn't end with secondary opportunities to balance flavors created by aging. 92 points Tasting Panel Magazine, tasting notes by Publisher, Meridith May.
