"SANGIACOMO VINEYARD" CARNEROS 750ml
This is the third vintage of Pinot Gris from the Sangiacomo family’s El Novillero Block planted in 2002 with two clones imported from Alsace: #152 and #146. The first yields more flowery and aromatic notes while the second, denser and more structured with flint and spice notes. This two acre block is currently the only Pinot Gris the Sangiacomo family grow.

This Pinot Gris is modeled upon the richer flavored, fuller bodied Alsatian style. The grapes were well extracted by pressing as whole clusters then racked into used French oak for fermentation to capture and retain rich fruit flavors. Malolactic fermentation was inhibited to achieve the lush style with the freshness and focus nice acidity brings.The lees were stirred upon completion of fermentation to enhance texture.

Lemon, tangerine, honeysuckle, melon, green apple, and grapefruit provide the exotic backdrop to this Pinot Gris. Lemon zest, spice, almond paste, and subtle tropical notes echo in the flavors on the palate accompanied by creamy texture that is a little tight upon release. Nice acidity, mineral, spice, and key lime flavors drive the wine through to the finish. The wine will develop nicely in the months and years ahead.

Argyle’s classy Riesling pays homage to another cool climate growing region, Germany’s Rheingau! Only 975 cases of this beauty were produced! The wine leads off with taut lines of honeyed citrus fruit. Bone dry, crisp and succinct, the wine is, nevertheless, quite generous in proffering sundry hints of such orchard stone fruits as white peach, pear and dried apricot. With 1% residual sugar, this plays like a Kabinett Trocken and provides consumers with a refreshing alternative to the status quo. It goes without saying; this is one of the best, most genuine, classically-styled New World Rieslings we’ve encountered in quite a while!

The Pocai Vineyard is located on the valley floor, resting by the Silverado Trail near Calistoga. The soil is composed of little rocks and the fertility is low with yields of 3 to 4 tons per acre. Unbelievably backbreaking work is involved to initially plant a vineyard, but once the vineyard is established it thrives as stress develops character in a vineyard and character defines a great wine.

This Chenin Blanc has a golden hue and aromas of citrus blossoms, honeysuckle, apple, pear, and peach. Crisp and clean with minor notes of vanilla, apples and lime. The wine has a zesty citrus character on the palate with notes of melon, apple, and floral blossoms. The mouthfeel is full and silky with a crisp finish.

Fess Parker's White Riesling has gained an audience of ardent Riesling lovers over the past few years. While it is a slightly off-dry wine, it retains a bright, crisp acidity and is perfectly matched to a wide array of foods. The aromatics and flavor profile are exotic and inviting with mysterious notes of Lychee Nut and Tupelo Honey on the nose and mouth. On the nose you'll find vibrant tropical fruit aromas coupled with yellow peach and floral notes. Peach, honeydew, citrus and lychee flavors make for a refreshing experience. This wine pairs seamlessly with Thai and Vietnamese cuisine and is also the ideal sipping wine.

White Rieslings are best served with only a slight chill, serving them too cold will only mask their more delicate flavors, a slight chill (45 minutes) is ideal.

Aged for 22 months in both new and neutral French oak, the wine's deep gold color takes its name from the Italian word for yellow. It crosses the palette as soft and lush, but exhibits lots of tangy acidity and provides a mouth-coating silkiness. It exhibits flavors of quince paste, peach pie and a smoky minerality accompanied by accents of lanolin and beeswax. A wonderful year-round white, showing beautiful integration, with a long life ahead of it.
