"The Bianchi family has records of owning vineyards in Sizzano, a little-known northern part of Piemonte, since 1500 and gained recognition for their wines as early as 1785. Today Read More...
the estate's 21 hectares are farmed by Paolo Tealdo Bianchi. Paolo sought out ICEA (organic) certification in 1990 and believes their estate were on of the first in Italy to have it. He sees the vineyards and wines as the direct story of his family history and he has vintages dating back to 1876 in the cellar. Old cement casks are used for primary fermentation followed by extended aging in older, Slavonian botti.

The most eccentric of all his wines is the "Luminae" (2011), 100% Erbaluce, a grape so rare it is often overlooked entirely. This wine is made from grapes farmed from two hillside vineyards (San Giacomo and Priosa) the wine has fantastic green plum notes and a zippy acidy. Perfect wine for summer sipping poolside, or as a bright, crisp accompaniment to a pale of soft creamy cheeses."
