Gold Selection Plan 1 $24.95  Hi-Time Wine Cellars Wine Club Member Sign Up

2 Bottles of red wine
(tax & shipping not included)

The Gold Selection Plan 1 is for red wine lovers: two tasty selections from California or Around the World.

St. Cosme Little James Basket NV, France - Louis Barruol is the 14th generation Barruol to make wine at Saint Cosme. The Chateau was built in the late 16th Century on the site of a former Roman villa, and the remains of a Roman wine cellar, carved into the stone of the hillside, still exist in the chateau's caves. There are 37 acres of vineyards and the vines average 60 years of age.

Non-Vintage Grenache: Solera from 1999 to 2010 Fermented and aged in vat. A lovely French table wine that serves up much more than expected for the price. Château St. Cosme is one of the top producers of Cotes du Rhone. Little James' Basket Press is a blend of Grenache from new and old vines. Comprised of mostly Grenache and neither fined nor filtered, it bursts with blackberries, tobacco, spice and earthy mineral undertones that lend itself to developing beautifully in the glass throughout the evening. Amazingly complex and delightful to enjoy with or without cuisine Cherry, oriental spices, lavender, strawberry. Item #373816

Remondo Palacios 2011 La Montesa, Spain
- If anyone embodies the promise and spirit of "The New Spain", it is Alvaro Palacios. Born into a wine family in Rioja, he now makes wine in three different appellations: Priorat, Bierzo, and his hometown of Alfaro in Eastern Rioja. Alvaro's flagship Priorat wine, L'Ermita, is one of the highest rated wines to come out of Spain, and he was voted "Winemaker of the Year" in the 2008 edition of the Wine Report. Following his great successes in Priorat and Bierzo during the 1990s, and the death of his father in 2000, Palacios assumed responsibility for the family's property and winery in Rioja, Palacios Remondo.

Palacios is deeply committed to organic viticulture and natural winemaking practices, such as use of organic fertilizers in the stone-covered, clay soils. All wines are unfiltered and clarified only with egg whites, no exogenous yeasts or commercial compounds are added to the wines and sulfites are kept to minimum levels. Total respect for his vineyard and its surrounding environment results in wines – La Montesa, Propiedad, Plácet Valtomelloso and La Vendimia – that express the true nature of the estate's soils.

WINE ADVOCATE 91 POINTS - "It’s interesting to compare the 2010 with the 2011 Finca La Montesa, which has a slightly different blend – 70% Garnacha, 25% Tempranillo and 5% Mazuelo – also sourced from the family vineyard La Montesa del Monte Yerga in Alfaro. It displays notes of ripe red fruit and spices in an elegant but in a slightly rustic way. The palate is round, with some tannins and ripe flavors. This is very good value." Item #379992

Gold Selection Plan 2 $24.95 Hi-Time Wine Cellars Wine Club Member Sign Up

1 Bottle of red wine and 1 bottle of white wine
(tax & shipping not included)

The Gold Selection Plan 2 is for those who like it red.... and white! A solid two-pack selection.

Cannonball 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon, California - The Cannonball dive is a dive for the people. It doesn't discriminate against body type, race, religion, political affiliation, social status, or fashion sense. And if you've never done a Cannonball, then you'd better just put this newsletter down (or turn off your computer), go find a body of water, and dive in! When you're jumping into the water on a beautiful summer day (or winter, if it's warm enough), with nothing on your mind except leaping high, balling up tight, and making a splash that is going to get as many people wet as possible, that moment you're in the air might be the best feeling you can have with your swimsuit on.

Now you may think that a wine company called Cannonball is not very serious. They actually address that: "True, we try not to take ourselves too seriously, but that's because wine should be enjoyable. Now don't get us wrong. We're serious about quality, honesty, and enjoying life. And, we're dead serious about spreading our love and passion for wine by offering great wines at great prices."

This is seriously delicious wine. The nose is aloft with earth, spice and fruit; strawberry tea, cherries, garden rose, a touch of bramble. The palate loads up more fruit with cherries in the fore, easy tannins, light acidity; this is bold but balanced wine. Mid-palate, we taste cocoa and oak, mixed berries like in a compote, with sweet cherry dominating the lengthy finish.

WINEMAKERS NOTES - "On the nose, the wine shows bright berry fruit, cocoa spice, with a slight black and green tea character. In the mouth are the classic Cannonball Cabernet Sauvignon flavors of juicy blackberry, blueberry, and dark chocolate with a layer of toasted oak. Tannins are smooth with an approachable roundness that provides a smoothness and depth of flavor. 90% of this luscious blend spent 18 months in French Oak, while the balance spent 11 months in American Oak." Item #208140

Aia Dei Colombi 2013 Fiano Sannio, Italy -
Pale golden in color this wine is clear and brilliant. Aromas of baked apples and toasted almonds with just a hint of white flowers. In the mouth, the wine is clean with crisp acidity but it is full, rich and round on the palate along with flavors of ripe green grapes and baked apples. Drink now and over the new few years. 2 Bottles of red wine
(tax & shipping not included)

The Platinum Selection 1 features two bold reds which will surely satisfy any wine lover. We include top wines from prestigious wine growing regions.

Dominio De Pingus 2013 PSI, Spain - Winemaker Peter Sisseck has already been pushing the limits of top-end Ribera del Duero but has also, for some time, dreamt of capturing the soul of Ribera through a new project named after the twenty-third letter of the Greek alphabet. In 2006, he began working with a select group of growers willing to convert their old vines vineyards into organically- and ultimately biodynamicallyfarmed sites with the goal of unleashing the potential of Ribera by creating the purest expression possible.

A wine with clarity and freshness. Medium to full body, fine tannins and a clean and long finish. Very balanced and delicate. Crisp yet fruity.

Vieux Chateau Bayard 2012 Cuvee Intergrale, France
- The Montagne part is located on two locations. The Bayard one is named in memory of the well-known Bayard knight who fighted with François 1er in the Battle of Marignano in 1515. Both producers are œnologists with various experiences in Bourgogne, the Loire and Languedoc. In this way, they draw a will to preserve the fruit above all in all wines they sign. Item #345080

The dark purple color is a fine introduction to the fruity and spicy nose at once, the ample and generous mouth allows to enjoy a beautiful composition of ripe fruit notes and soft tannins , balance and power finally. Ideal on a side of beef , a lamb , farmhouse cheeses. Item #345080

Godeval 2014 Vina Godello Cepas Viejas, Spain
- 100% Godello from the oldest plots of Godeval - an average age of 50 years old at an altitude of 500 meters.

An intense and complex nose of ripe fruits, lime, fennel and mint. The apple, melon and peach fruit flavors carry on giving power to the wine which is deftly balance by brisk herbal notes and hints of mineral from the slate soils. A wine that really evolves in the glass and lingers with you, very adaptable for a wide array of dishes.

The Valdeorras valley is nestled in the highest mountains of the Galicia interior. This area is located in the province of Ourense and is home to just 200 hectares of the Godello variety. The Champagne Selection is a special gift for the discriminating connoisseur. We will showcase artisinal discoveries in French Champagne.

Wafflart Antoniolli Brut Traditional 1er Cru, Champagne, France - Located some four miles south-west of Reims in the Petite Montagne, the Premier Cru hamlet of Sacy is the home of the tiny Wafflart-Antoniolli Champagne operation. Proprietor Thierry Wafflart's main job is acting as the president of village's Co-op, but he also fines the time to meticulously tend his thirteen acres of vines (all situated in Sacy) for his own micro marque. This Champagne, which until now was virtually all sold to private clients, is a brilliant effort that really raises the bar on the Brut Tradition genre. Based on the 2012 vintage with reserve wines added from 2010 and 2011, this Brut is a blend of 60% Pinot Meunier and 40% Pinot Noir that offers pleasing aromas of golden apples, apricots, light toast and citrus blossoms. Medium rich in the mouth, this Blanc de Noirs impresses with its focused red apple, nectarine and red berry flavors that stay fresh and vibrant thanks to lively acidity. A compelling value that will only become more nuanced over the next several months interesting as it ages on the cork. Item #377639
