VINA ALICIA 2011 TIARA

WINE ADVOCATE 91 POINTS - "Vina Alicia’s new releases include one white wine, the 2011 Tiara. It is a blend of 50% Riesling, 30% Savagnin, and 20% Albarino fermented and aged sur lie with batonnage for 12 months. Citrus, spring flowers, baking spice, and stony mineral aromas inform the nose of a dry, spicy, mouth-filling, complex wine. In the glass it displays that extra dimension that separates the merely excellent from the outstanding. Drink it over the next 3-4 years."

It’s not so often to find a white blend of 50% Riesling, 40% Albariño and 10% Savagnin, so when you find something like this, you sit back and take notice. The folks at Argentina’s Viña Alicia make this unusual white blend, giving it a full year on its lees before being bottled. The wine is bright lemon in color and comes alive with aromas and flavors of honeydew, kiwi fruit, lychee, lemon, mint, ginger, mineral, quinine and white flowers. The wine is opulent with medium body, supple texture and a lengthy vibrant finish. This is an alluring and complex wine, and an absolute pleasure to drink!
