Yes, this is the wine of world famous chef Tyler Florence, and yes, it really is just as delicious as his food! One of the things Tyler loves best about putting together his recipes is experimenting with different ingredients in order to combine flavors in perfect balance. Turns out, it's one of his favorite things about wine making, too!Tyler is working in conjunction with Michael Mondavi and his family to create wines that are incredibly drinkable on their own, yet still have the structure needed to pair with great meals. Tyler and Rob Mondavi, Jr. selected grapes for this wine from both hillside and valley floor vineyards from a few of Napa's best sub-regions, such as Rutherford and Atlas Peak. Tyler and Rob have found that blending fruit from volcanic hillside soils and deeper alluvial soils of the valley floor gives the wine a beautifully rounded mouthfeel and layers of rich, complex flavors. The grapes were fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks then underwent malolactic fermentation in barrel before 18 months of aging in French oak.
This is one of those wines that everybody on our wine staff loves. Whether you love Bordeaux or Napa Cabs, this is a wine that should please your palate! The Tyler Florence Cabenet has a beautifully dark garnet color, along with opulent and rich cherry, dark berry and cassis aromas. Silky on the palate, the flavors resonate with the aromas, adding raspberries, plums, cocoa, and perfectly balanced by supple tannins and hints of toasted vanilla and toffee-a classic expression of this world-famous Cab region. Tyler suggests enjoying this with a rack of lamb, tender beef fillet or rich, roasted vegetables.
