TERLANO 08 LAGREIN GRIES
You probably won’t see many Lagrein bottlings, but there is something fascinating about this grape variety’s combination of suppleness and power. There are facets of Lagrein that show pretty floral notes and red fruit, adding lightness and zest, but there is also a dark, brooding, spicy side. The Terlano”Greis” 2008 is a terrific example of Lagrein that recently was awarded 93 points from Wine Spectator, - “Fine-grained tannins are well-integrated in this dense, inky red, which shows notes of aromatic black currant, black cherry, violet and pekoe tea leaf. Tar and iron notes add complexity, while a hint of sweet, ripe blackberry lingers on the fresh finish. Attractive now, but has the stuffing to age. Best from 2013 through 2023.”
