its other characteristics makes this an ideal sipper as well as a perfect accompaniment to a wide variety of dishes.

All grapes come from the 'Rioja Alta' subzone, where higher altitudes and Atlantic influences make for a moderate climate which is ideal for producing wines of elegance and finesse. Soils are composed of iron-rich clay and limestone. This wine is aged in tank and bottled in January to preserve freshness and fruit.

La Rioja is blessed with the perfect conditions for excellent vineyards. Its soil and climate are favorable for growing vitis vinifera, and its wine culture runs deep and wide. There are good reasons why this land enjoys international recognition for its outstanding wines. Cune, with its three wineries and the many international prizes earned by its wines, has also contributed to making Rioja the global benchmark it is today.

Cune`s Viña Real winery is located on top of the Cerro de la Mesa, in Rioja Alavesa, an area celebrated for its fruit-forward wines, a land with a soil that supports the best native red wine grape varieties and that enjoys an optimum mesoclimate. Most vines here grow from the highlands of the Sierra de Cantabria down to the Ebro River on southern-facing slopes the calcareous sediment of the hills makes the soil ideal. Rioja Alavesa was one of Spain`s pioneering regions in the barrel-aging of wines, and Viña Real was one of the first to make crianza wines in this area.

Cune has been a long time staff and customer favorite from Rioja. Over the years we have had the privilege of tasting their Gran Reservas as far back as the 50’s. Our reactions are always the same, we ooh and awe, treasuring every sip.

the Vina Real winery. As with the Reserva, the Crianza is usually a blend of 90% Tempranillo complemented with small amounts of Garnacha, Mazuelo and Graciano. 2010 had textbook climatic conditions to be a great vintage. The destemmed grapes carry out both alcoholic and malolactic fermentation in stainless steel vats and the wine ages for some 14 months in French and American oak barrels. This 2010 has a nice bright cherry color with a clean and open nose displaying red fruits and a spicy touch, coming through as quite a traditional nose and a polished palate with good acidity as they aim for freshness and drinkability. This Crianza represents superb value for money. Drink now-2020."

fresh vintage, a blend of 90% Tempranillo and 10% Garnacha, Mazuelo and Graciano from Rioja Alavesa fermented in stainless steel and matured in barrel for 22 months, during which time it was racked every four months. The palate is medium-bodied and very balanced with great acidity and fine tannins that make it easy to drink. Pop or keep. It has good freshness, and with time in the glass it develops beautiful aromas of orange peel that transmit very good freshness."

affected the Canaries, and the island is home to countless gnarled, twisted, extremely old vines. All vines on the island are ungifted. Different parcels from different plots of land are vinified separately, though the fermentations of the Listan Negro and Negramoll include the Listan Blanco. Perhaps counterintuitively (and perhaps oversimplified a bit for space), fermentation of red grapes with white aids in color extraction, enhancing tannin structure, and creating more surface area for the binding of a greater amount of aromatic compounds. The wine is blended after alcoholic fermentation. Malolactic fermentation happens on the lees, during 4 month aging in American and Central European oak barrels."- Importer's Notes

after the twenty-third letter of the Greek alphabet. In 2006, he began working with a select group of growers willing to convert their old vines vineyards into organically- and ultimately biodynamicallyfarmed sites with the goal of unleashing the potential of Ribera by creating the purest expression possible.

WINE ADVOCATE 91 POINTS - " 2013 was not an easy vintage in Ribera del Duero; it was a cold growing season and they had to work a lot to control the large amount of vineyards used for the production of the 2013 PSI. They had to do a lot of sorting, and do a gentle vinification and élevage in oak. The percentage of Garnacha has grown to around 10%, while the rest is, of course, Tempranillo. The wine has a fruit-driven profile, fresh and clean, developing some notes of flowers and red berries. When the year could have been something like 1993, 1997 or 2002, the last problematic vintages in Ribera, this 2013 resulted much better than any of those. It might have been a little reduced at first, but once it's in contact with air for some time, it opens up (so decanting the wine in advance might be a good idea), and is more approachable than the previous vintage. This could be a lighter year that drinks quite well and was a real triumph over nature. There are 190,000 bottles of this 2013."

tannins and citrusy acidity keep this lively. Though the flavors are maturing, the wine remains fresh. Drink now through 2020."

The Coto de Imaz Gran Reserva is an amazingly complex wine produced only in years when the quality of the grapes is very high and supports the lengthy aging process required by the Gran Reserva designation. Wine critics have hailed the 2005 vintage as one of the great vintages of the last decade in Rioja. The El Coto winery has enjoyed great success in Europe and is just now being brought into the United States in very limited quantities. In fact, only 120 cases of this wine were imported into this country!

This 100% Tempranillo-based wine is exceptionally balanced with the smooth drinkability gained from 24 months of aging in American oak and 36 months in bottle prior to release. This is a delicious, savory wine, which benefits from at least 2 hours of decanting to really show its complexity and is exactly what a quality Gran Reserva Rioja should taste like. It is a wine of character and elegance, which is well balanced and harmonious.

Medium ruby fading to a garnet edge. The nose is very complex, showing dried red fruit, cigar box, forest floor, earth and herbs. The palate is refined and the tannins are resolved and silky. Nice acidity brightens the character of the fruit. Cherry, pomegranate and red currants predominate with additional notes of cedar, tobacco and leather. With aeration, the wine becomes very savory and pairs well with lamb, pork, steak and aged cheeses.

This Spanish gem continues to astound with its lush, generous style and combination of rich fruit flavors and silky smooth tannins. It is endowed with excellent concentration and purity courtesy of low-yielding Monastrell and old vine Cabernet Sauvignon. The Bodegas El Nido project is the result of a collaboration of the Gil Family and superstar Australian winemaker Chris Ringland. Their ability to produce excellent wine has won them legions of fans who seek out their bottlings. Unfortunately, every year we receive our allocation of Clio and it is never sufficient to satisfy the demands of our customers. Enjoy this wine while it is available!

The wine exhibits a glass-coating opaque purple color. Expansive aromas of dark and bramble fruits greet the nose followed by notions of cocoa and toasty notes. On the palate, this full-bodied wine conceals its power in a robe of silky smooth tannins. The fruit is impressive and pure with mouth-coating flavors of ripe blueberry, blackberry and black cherries augmented by mocha. The wine culminates in a finish of notable length and balance.
