for this 100% Cabernet Sauvignon fashioned from fruit grown in the tufa (white volcanic ash) soils of Knight’s Valley. This is a terrific example of amountain Cabernet.

"The deep purple-colored 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon Helena Montana reveals aromas of crushed rocks, flowers, black currants, and spicy oak. Powerful, tannic, medium to full-bodied flavors coat the mouth, but this cuvee clearly needs time in the bottle. Although it possesses beautiful purity, structure, and intensity, it will benefit from 2-3 years of cellaring, and should keep for 15-20."

The auslese-styled 2007 Special Select Late Harvest Riesling Saralee’s Vineyard contains 21.7 grams of residual sugar as well as terrific acidity, and gorgeous aromas of lychee nuts, apricots, peaches, and apple butter. This sweet white should drink easily for another 5-6 years."

It’s easy to say that Morgan Twain-Peterson was born into the wine industry… so let’s start there. Morgan is the son of legendary Ravenswood winemaker and Zinfandel legend Joel Peterson. Read More...
At the age of 5, Morgan was able to distinguish Merlot from Zinfandel, and being the son of Joel, that made for some early learning of winemaking basics and eventually the essential techniques for fine winemaking. But Joel didn’t stop there. He went onto other wineries and regions to learn other methods, like working in the McLaren Vale region of Australia, and even working as a visiting winemaker at Château Lynch Bages in Bordeaux. Oh yeah…and he passed the Master of Wine exam!

Morgan only works with high quality fruit from high quality sites and ferments them in open top redwood and stainless steel fermenters then ages them in the sexiest French barrels from the coldest forests. The results are tremendous wines that range in style from opulent to elegant, yet taste exceptionally balanced!

restoration of the land and biodiversity on the estate. Benziger's Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon is very inviting with aromas of black olive and savory, dark fruit. Its well weighted structure and integrated tannins add a light chalkiness to the palate. Flavors of black currant, Bing cherry and juicy plum endure from start to finish, as hints of tea and cocoa help support the mid-palate.

What we like about this wine is that it reminds us of something from Burgundy, like a Macon, yet still shows its Sonoma roots. The wine has a clean nose of crème freche, apple, minerals and a slight toasted almond note. These carry through to the palate joining round peach, smoke, spice, and honeycomb. It strikes the perfect balance of acidity and structure.

Most Sauvignon Blancs at this price are crisp yet simple, but Buena Vista brings us a medium-bodied Sauvignon Blanc showcasing aromas of sea salt, smoke, and citrus peel, such as lemon and lime. It also shows some warm spiciness, green cardamom, anise, sweet hay and honeydew. The lime peel and honeydew carry over on the palate, leading to a clean and fresh, lingering finish.

As the name would imply, this wine is in honor of The Count of Buena Vista, a tireless and passionate devotee of Californian wines. From prestigious vineyards across Sonoma, The Count's intriguing varietals intermingle seamlessly to produce an elegant and complex wine. Individual lots of Zinfandel, Syrah, and Merlot were fermented separately and aged for 16 months in American, Hungarian, and French oak barrels before final assemblage. The wine's bouquet opens beautifully with rich aromas of black currant, cherries, grilled meat, pepper, and just a hint of espresso. Smooth on the palate, the wine offers flavors of red fruit compote, plum, raspberries, and blackberry that give way to cardamom on the long, silky finish.

Despite the retail price, this wine received much of the same treatment as wines that cost much more, including long fermentation times for greater complexity, and aging in French oak barrels. This wine is textbook Sonoma Cabernet; a modern wine that recognizes its French roots. It shows currant, raspberry, black cherry, and a distinct herb note. The wine is supported by good tannins that keep the finish going and going.

career that includes prominent wineries such as Jordan, Pine Ridge and Peter Michael. He specializes in small lots of vineyard designated Pinot Noir that express the unique location from which they came.

All the vineyards are contracted on a by-the-acre rather than a “per-ton” basis. This means he pays a set fee for the acreage guarantying the grower cash for his crop regardless of the tonnage. This allows him to prune, shoot-thin and drop crop for low yields that result in only high quality grapes. His winemaking style is a blend of classic and contemporary, utilizing cutting edge fermentation equipment paired with natural hands on winemaking, and an emphasis on balance. All the wines are naturally fermented and unfined and unfiltered to preserve their innate flavors and aromas.

This wine is crafted from blending several Northern California vineyard sites to create one comprehensive expression of elegant and opulant Pinot Noir. Vineyards include Wilson, Guiseppe, and Pisoni. Only 900 cases were produced!

of it! So Bill wanted to produce a Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir that hailed from Sonoma’s Vrai Côte (which means “true coast”). With a deep ruby hue this wine is everything Pinot Noir. Both depth of fruit and a sense of wound strength are apparent in the aromas of this youthful Pinot. Aromas of strawberry, black raspberry and dried rose petals burst from the glass with undertones of clove, leather and juniper berry. The flavors carry through on the palate which is richer than the aromas predict. This impressive bottling can be enjoyed with great pleasure already, but will continue to impress over the next two or three years.
