The auslese-styled 2007 Special Select Late Harvest Riesling Saralee’s Vineyard contains 21.7 grams of residual sugar as well as terrific acidity, and gorgeous aromas of lychee nuts, apricots, peaches, and apple butter. This sweet white should drink easily for another 5-6 years."

ended up achieving both! While Richard Arrowood has since sold the winery, it is good to see that the new owners are carrying on his same attention to detail that Richard had, and the winemaking staff work hard to keep Arrowood Winery at the top of its game! The grapes come from primarily organic or sustainably-farmed vineyards along the benches, hillsides and mountains of Sonoma County (Monte Rosso is one of those vineyards). Fruit forward, bright aromas of raspberries and cherries are intermixed with cola and subtle oak. On the palate, the tannins are full yet velvety, and the wine shows flavors of cocoa, raspberries, black currants, anise and a hint of minerals. This wine shows a remarkable balance for the pricepoint!

coming from the Pacific Ocean. This climate is well suited to the more delicate, early-ripening varieties such as Chardonnay because the fruit develops more slowly and consistently, resulting in wines of exceptional flavor, complexity, and character.

Auteur has yet made. Moreover, their new packaging is a major upgrade in aesthetics.

"The outstanding 2012 Chardonnay Sonoma Coast was made from the Old Wente clone, with malolactic fermentation completely blocked, and only 25% new French oak used. Made in a Chablis-like style, it possesses lots of citrus and green apple notes, medium to full body, and wonderful freshness, delineation, acidity and intensity. Those who complain that California Chardonnays are too buttery or oaky will love what Auteur has accomplished with this cuvée. Drink it over the next 4-5 years."

It’s easy to say that Morgan Twain-Peterson was born into the wine industry… so let’s start there. Morgan is the son of legendary Ravenswood winemaker and Zinfandel legend Joel Peterson. Read More...
At the age of 5, Morgan was able to distinguish Merlot from Zinfandel, and being the son of Joel, that made for some early learning of winemaking basics and eventually the essential techniques for fine winemaking. But Joel didn’t stop there. He went onto other wineries and regions to learn other methods, like working in the McLaren Vale region of Australia, and even working as a visiting winemaker at Château Lynch Bages in Bordeaux. Oh yeah…and he passed the Master of Wine exam!

Morgan only works with high quality fruit from high quality sites and ferments them in open top redwood and stainless steel fermenters then ages them in the sexiest French barrels from the coldest forests. The results are tremendous wines that range in style from opulent to elegant, yet taste exceptionally balanced!

sip (the pig notwithstanding). Two years after their first e-mail request, Mike Sangiacomo finally had fruit for Bruliam Wines- a mixture of Pommard and 115 clones. Planted in 1998, this Robert’s Road vineyard was transformed from an open field to premium pinot noir by a farming family with a reputation for excellence. The soil is well drained and requires no amendments. It’s the first vineyard in the Petaluma Wind Gap to see morning fog, and it’s the last to clear. The fruit ripens slowly, so this ensures complete phenolic ripeness without spiking sugar. This is cool climate pinot in its prime.

Vibrant red fruit with juicy cranberry, watermelon Jolly Rancher candy, and sweet summer raspberries provides smooth and easy drinking. Sarsaparilla, rich sandalwood and cola round out the low notes. This wine has developed lovely mid palate weight and fine grain tannins. Drink 2014-2020.

What we like about this wine is that it reminds us of something from Burgundy, like a Macon, yet still shows its Sonoma roots. The wine has a clean nose of crème freche, apple, minerals and a slight toasted almond note. These carry through to the palate joining round peach, smoke, spice, and honeycomb. It strikes the perfect balance of acidity and structure.

Most Sauvignon Blancs at this price are crisp yet simple, but Buena Vista brings us a medium-bodied Sauvignon Blanc showcasing aromas of sea salt, smoke, and citrus peel, such as lemon and lime. It also shows some warm spiciness, green cardamom, anise, sweet hay and honeydew. The lime peel and honeydew carry over on the palate, leading to a clean and fresh, lingering finish.

From prestigious vineyards across Sonoma, The Count's intriguing varietals intermingle seamlessly to produce an elegant and complex wine. The wine's bouquet opens beautifully with rich aromas of black currant, cherries, grilled meat, pepper, and just a hint of espresso. Smooth on the palate, the wine offers flavors of red fruit compote, plum, raspberries, and blackberry that give way to cardamom on the long, silky finish.

career that includes prominent wineries such as Jordan, Pine Ridge and Peter Michael. He specializes in small lots of vineyard designated Pinot Noir that express the unique location from which they came.

All the vineyards are contracted on a by-the-acre rather than a “per-ton” basis. This means he pays a set fee for the acreage guarantying the grower cash for his crop regardless of the tonnage. This allows him to prune, shoot-thin and drop crop for low yields that result in only high quality grapes. His winemaking style is a blend of classic and contemporary, utilizing cutting edge fermentation equipment paired with natural hands on winemaking, and an emphasis on balance. All the wines are naturally fermented and unfined and unfiltered to preserve their innate flavors and aromas.

This wine is crafted from blending several Northern California vineyard sites to create one comprehensive expression of elegant and opulant Pinot Noir. Vineyards include Widdoes, Wilson, Cap's Crown, and just a splash of Pisoni!

ROBERT PARKER 90 POINTS - "This relatively new, interesting enterprise was created by May-Britt and Denis Malbec. Denis, who long worked in Bordeaux, has become an increasingly respected and sought-after wine consultant in Northern California. Consequently, it is not surprising that the Capture cuvees are strongly Bordeaux-influenced from philosophy and winemaking perspectives."

"A blend of 54% Sonoma Sauvignon Blanc and 46% Lake County Sauvignon Blanc, the 2012 Sauvignon Blanc Tradition reveals an intense perfume of honeyed citrus, figs and melons. This enticing, dry white is beautifully textured with outstanding concentration, a touch of spice (no doubt from being aged sur-lie), and a crisp, naked, complex style. It shows the French savoir faire combined with the exceptional fruit Mother Nature can bestow on many Northern California vineyards. Enjoy this singular style of Sauvignon over the next 2-3 years."
