The 2012 Santa Barbara County Pinot Noir utilizes all the time-proven techniques for quality wine; smaller fermenters, hand punch downs twice daily, and aging for 9 months in French oak. The result is a wine of excellent purity and elegance, with a vibrant nose of classic strawberry and cherry, with a hint of white pepper spice and loan. It is lively on the palate, with a lovely ruby color, flavors of cherry and strawberry, good texture, nicely placed acidity, and a freshness you don’t get from many Pinot Noirs at this price. Gary, keep the good juice comin’!

still sells much of their fruit, but they have begun to keep some of the better sections for themselves. That being said, their own label hasn't skipped a beat, and is receiving the same high scores as their customers!

Located 13 miles from the Pacific Ocean in one of the coolest wine-growing corners of California's Central Coast, Dierberg Vineyard is on the western edge of Santa Barbara County's Santa Maria Valley appellation, which is world-renowned for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Their vineyard is planted to newer "Dijon" clones, as well as other "heritage clones" "heritage clones" whose roots go back to the Burgundy area of France, offering a clonal diversity unlike almost any other Pinot vineyard in California. Last year's 93-point Chardonnay was a huge hit at our store, and this Pinot Noir is a great follow up!

throughout Santa Barbara's Santa Ynez Valley to find vineyards that could best exemplify the enticing characteristics of this grape. They have found those vineyards, and now their Sauvignon Blancs have become some of our favorites! Fermented in both stainless steel and neutral oak barrels, the wine displays aromas of guava, honeydew, white peaches, green apple, kiwi, lemon and other citrus notes and hints of fresh pineapple, complicated by mineral notes, sea salt, white flowers, gentle fresh basil and thyme and faraway hints of fresh cut grass. On the palate the wine is medium bodied, yet substantial, as waves of fresh tropical fruits, nectarines, and melons build in the mouth before being enveloped in ripe round acidity and mineral notes of granite, and sea shells.

and early morning picks, and bring them straight to the winery where they are gently, whole cluster pressed over a long slow press cycle to provide just the right amount of skin contact while gently extracting maximum flavors. 5$ Syrah was added for additional complexity and body. 2013 was a terrific vintage for these grapes; the Mourvedre was picked at low sugars, giving a lean, citrus-tinged, energetic backbone to the more juicy and complex, wild red fruits of the Grenache.

Beautiful light pink to copper color, on the nose, aromas of wild strawberry and raspberry, peach skin and blood orange, with a touch of pine and earth. On the palate, the wine delivers flavors of strawberry, raspberry, pear, nectarine, fuji apple and crenshaw melon, with acidity-inspired notes of orange peel and stony minerals. Light to medium bodied, but expressive and completely dry, the wine has a smooth velvety texture and a long, clean finish.
