HEIDI SCHROCK 2013 ROSE DRY "BISCAYA"

Heidi Schrock's 2013 Rose Biscaya Halbtrocken is composed of 40% Merlot; 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Pinot Noir This is a beautiful jewel-colored rosť from sustainably farmed vineyards near Lake Neusiedl, Austria. This delcious pink dances and glitters in the glass. It is off-dry and complex with a crisp finish. Pair with shrimp, tilapia, chicken piccata, ham or goat cheese.

Heidi Schrock took over her family winery in 1983. The winery and its 10 hectares of vineyards are located in the historic village of Rust (in the province of Burgenland) about 5 miles from the Hungarian border. Her south-facing vineyards form an amphitheater around Rust on Lake Neusiedl. These vineyards produce some of the best and most tradition-rich wines in Austria. The yearly hours of sunshine there are much higher than the Austrian average. The sunshine combined with sandy soils mixed with clay with a high calcium content provide the ideal prerequisites for impressive, full-bodied dry wines. In 2003 Heidi was awarded "Falstaff Vintner of the Year", making her one of only a handful of women to obtain this honor.
