HENRI PRUDHON 2010 SAINT AUBIN ROUGE SUR LE SENTIER DU CLOS 1ER CRU VIEILLES VIGNES

From 40- to 80-year-old vineyard plots in Saint-Aubin and a hill between Saint-Aubin and Gamay, where vines with many small-sized bunches, very rich in "millerand" (small berries), lend excellent depth and flavor, this wine stands tall, strong and comfortable in its own skin. Burhound.com's Allen Meadows is a tough but fair wine critic (his 89s are often other critics' 92s); when he makes big statements we tend to pay attention and he's spot on here: "...I would go so far as to say that Domaine Henri Prudhon is the most under rated producer in all of Burgundy."

BURGHOUND 89 POINTS: "This is also really very pretty with a complex and well-layered nose of airy and cool red cherry, plum and wet stone scents. There is a textured feel to the supple yet detailed and energetic medium-bodied flavors that display just a bit of rusticity as well as some backend austerity on the dusty and mouth coating finish. This should reward mid-term cellaring of 5 to 7 years."
