fresh flavors in the crops that come from the area’s rolling hills. Owner and manager Ron Black had the foresight to plant his hillside very densely, in order to create more vine competition and lower yields that accentuate the combination of lushness and poise inherent to this site.

mouth feel. The complex bouquet includes key lime, lemon peel, peaches and apricots. The crisp tartness complements the wine’s natural viscosity and creates balance and elegance. This wine is extremely versatile with food. It's textured and plush enough to compliment rich seafood like lobster, crab and scallops, but also has a crisp acidity and fruit flavors that can pair nicely with more diverse flavors like grilled pork tenderloin with a fresh apple reduction sauce.

that elongate the growing season. This gives us small, concentrated and flavorful berries, producing bright cherry characteristics, brown spices, and a keen minerality overlaid with a rich, velvety mouth feel. Once an old dairy farm, the pastureland was planted to Dijon clone Pinot Noir in 2000, preserving the deep agricultural history of the property.

The aromas are abundant with bright cherry, cranberry and brown spice, reminiscent of warm cinnamon toast topped with plum jam. On the palate, the bright cherry opens the show, then evolves into a lush, sweetly spiced plum pudding, coating the mouth with a velvety richness. The wine then develops an intense mineral note, adding yet another dimension, lending way to silky tannins and a lengthy finish.

The characteristically cool climate, which is affected by fog generated by the valley's proximity to the Pacific Ocean, makes it a perfect site to grow these fickle grapes.

August Briggs' Russian River Pinot Noir can be described as their ‘classic’ style pinot noir. In this 2011 vintage, the wine shows off its true Burgundy character. The wine is characterized by vibrant garnet color, upfront exotic aromas of pomegranate, sour cherry, cranberry, and cardamom combine with a delicate note of mint and white pepper. It has a nice core of fruit flavors with a bit of orange peel at the end. Amazingly complex and gets better and better the longer it stays in your glass.

a small amount of old vine vineyards in the blend. The wine is made in a style that highlights the distinctive characteristics and unique flavor profiles famous to Russian River Valley – an AVA that DeLoach Vineyards helped officially established in 1983.

Tasting notes from winemaker Brian Maloney: "The wine opens aromatically with enticing notes full of boysenberry and blackberry accentuated with hints of dust and violet. Dark red, almost purplish, this wine is medium to full-bodied with excellent balance and great structure. True to its varietal, our Russian River Valley Zinfandel has nice acidity, just a touch of toast on the palate and is ready to be enjoyed upon release."

represents the oldest vines, having been planted in 1972. It sees about 45% new French oak but you would never know that based on the sensational richness, texture and flavor profiles where the oak plays a minor role. Copious notes of white peach, apricot marmalade, honeysuckle, brioche and subtle hazelnuts jump from the glass of this beauty. Good acidity buttresses the wine’s broad, powerful mouthfeel, providing freshness as well as delineation. It should drink well for a decade or more."

To say we are ecstatic about carrying the wines from DuMOL would be a severe understatement! Proprietors Kerry Murphy and Michael Verlander have been working tirelessly for over a decade to bring consumers their best expressions of wine from the Russian River Valley, and they have succeeded like few others have! Andy Smith is the talented winemaker and viticulturist, and he's worked with some of the best in the industry, including Ted Lemon (Littorai) and Paul Hobbs. Many of our customers have been asking for DuMOL wines for quite some time (as we have, too), and production is quite small, so don't hesitate to pick up some of this treasured wine, while it's still available!

The Chloe bottling comes entirely from the prestigious Ritchie Vineyard in the Russian River Valley. Yields are kept down to only 3 tons per acre to increase complexity in the wine. It was aged for 13 months in 45% new French oak barrels. This is an aromatically fruit-forward wine with ripe peach, cantaloupe, lemon curd, orange marmalade, floral lilies, toasted almonds and fennel complexity. There is an underlying savory cut grass character that mixes with richer nectar and pollen notes before turning to tangy citrus marmalade, nactarine, and apple blossoms.

This is a wine that can be enjoyed now for its citrus and grapefruit intensity or aged for five to six years to allow the natural hazelnut/truffle characters to emerge. With time in the glass a lovely beeswax/honeyed quality comes forth quich nicely offsets the wine's inherent dry, precise structure. Youthful aromas of sea shells, honeydew melon, grapefruit, lilies, and white peach develop in the glass. On the palate, lime sherbet, slate, and mineral are constantly appearing. The finish is intensely mouthwatering, as honey and lemon richness linger.

there was no malolactic fermentation. Intensely perfuned yet quite brisk on opening, this shows textbook white peach, honeysuckle, lemongrass and nectarine.

ROBERT PARKER 92 POINTS - "As I have written in the past, this is a beautiful partnership between owner Kerry Murphy and the brilliant winemaker Andy Smith. Approaching its 20th anniversary, the breadth of high-quality, complex Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs as well as a Viognier and Syrahs they have consistently produced is stunning."

"The 2012 Viognier Lia (a 230-case cuvée of 100% Viogner) was aged in larger French hogsheads with no malolactic and only 20% new oak. The vines were 14 years of age in 2012. It reveals that steely, wet pebbly, gravelly character that adds a complex nuance to the honeysuckle, peach and apricot fruit. This floral, medium-bodied, steely beauty can be enjoyed over the next 3-4 years."
