ROBERT PARKER 90-93 POINTS:"Last year the 2010 Cote Rotie Brune et Blonde was revealing some green pepper notes, but that problematic issue has been completely resolved. The wine now offers up lots of Christmas fruitcake, tapenade, black currant, forest floor, incense and camphor characteristics. Although not as luxurious, extravagantly thick and viscous as the 2009, the 2010 will be drinkable early in life and should evolve for 10-15 years."

old vines in the “La Landonne” lieu-dit. This wine is more subtle, more elegant and “quieter” if you will than the “Chavaroche”. At the same time, it is very much a Levet wine with a bouquet of violets, wild berries, a touch of animal and resinous-like tannins that speak of the inclusion of stems (a hallmark of the Levet tradition). The “Journaries” is approachable at an earlier stage than its companion “La Chavaroche” but, that being said, it is a wine that not only ages gracefully but almost requires a touch of patience. We now import approximately 1500 bottles plus magnums of this cuvée each vintage." MADROSE.COM

percent of the fruit comes from their holdings on the Cote Brune. It boasts a dense purple color along with a sweet nose of asphalt, licorice, forest floor, blackberries, cassis and bouquet garni, sensational concentration and sweet tannins. The structure, freshness and minerality suggest another 3-4 years of cellaring may be beneficial. It has 25 years of potential evolution."

WINE SPECTATOR 94 POINTS: "Lots of bramble and anise notes pump along, with blackberry and boysenberry accents chiming in. The juicy, focused finish features finely beaded acidity, letting a sweet tapenade element stretch out while the structure sits in reserve. Should flesh out in the cellar. Best from 2015 through 2025. 200 cases imported." –JM

summer fare, warm weather and a panoply of outdoor gatherings and scenarios. It's a blend of 70% Grenache and 30% Syrah, from a selection of 10 different vineyards within the Southern Rhône.

On the nose, soft, bright fruits dominate, with red plum, black cherry and strawberry scents in the fore; there is a layer of white pepper and Provençal herbs that makes their presence known, uplifting and supporting the sweet fruit with their woodsy, earthy essence, keeping everything balanced. The palate leads with sweet, ripe fruit as the nose does, in this case ripe cherry fruit and a touch of cherry vanilla leading to a hint of light caramel and mixed stone fruits. The tannins are very soft but definitely present as earthy spice sidles in around the fruit, lending, again, balance and harmony to the wine. This is a complete wine and drinks great right now-- your new summer red? Yes, please!

“I particularly loved: the… cheerful Côtes du Rhône… Made from old-vine Grenache (and a bit of Syrah), the wine was ripe, juicy and delicious. Easy to drink.” — Lettie Teague, The Wall Street Journal, April 7, 2012

Winemaker Aaron Pott - "Strawberries, cherry, red currants, plum, fig, violets, caramel, coffee, tar, cocoa and wet stone in an incredibly vibrant nose. Cherry, wild strawberry, caramel and peach in a bold attack with medium density. Soft and super supple finish with density, stone fruits linger with persistence. This wine is tasting great! It is refreshing, supple and juicy."
