pepper and violet-like aromas and flavors. Drink it over the coming couple of years. Covering over 80 acres of prime real estate, all of which is in the la Solitude lieu-dit, Domaine de la Solitude is one of the oldest estates in Châteauneuf du Pape. Today it’s run by the Lancon family, who are the direct descendants of the Barberini family who came from Italy and created the estate in 1450. They produce up to four reds and two white Châteauneuf du Papes in any vintage. While they’re most widely known for the Châteauneuf du Papes, don’t miss their Côtes du Rhône, both the red and white are fabulous drinkers and represent value."

The vintage 2012 was a good vintage for syrah, but 2013 is a great vintage for this cépage. The late and

the northern areas of the Rhone valley.
We noticeably remember about the magnificent vintage 1999 which gave syrah of stunning freshness. They
were straightforward and precise. The syrah from Vinsobres and from the Terrasses Villafranchiennes of
the Gard give this year remarkable results. Be ready to taste this year a Côtes du Rhône full of fruit and
fresh aromas, with a nice tight texture. It will be “interesting” to propose this wine as a blind taste to your
friends (or your ennemies !!) to get them wrong. It is possible that a few of them think that this syrah comes
from Cornas or Crozes-Hermitage.. It is my pleasure to offer every year a wine of this quality at a
reasonnable level of price. This is what french wine means: bottle a bit of spirit even at an affordable price.
While I talk about spirit, I would like to thank my father who created this label that looks like us: it was 17
years ago. He had then drawn the pavillon, in the same style that he had used to create the Gigondas label
showing the Saint Cosme chapel … back in 1960.

The freshness, exotic tropical fruits, fragrant bouquets, dry, fleshy mid-palates and crisp finishes of these wines will be admired by consumers. our work every single day. Biodynamism guarantees this typicity of the singular terroir attaining wines which are all at once living, subtle and complex. The fermentation develops naturally without addition of yeasts or sulphur. The optimal maturity which we look for allows us to carry out long and slow macerations so as to preserve the source of our grapes. The influences of the lunar calendar guides the rhythm of our work of de-vatting right through to the bottling favouring fruit and flower days.
This is a dry wine, with a nose that expresses aromas of summer fruit; white peach, apricot. In the mouth it is straight, tight, a little saline expressing a beautiful minerality, with a rich, long, airy finish. To be consumed as an aperitif, with white meats, accompanying fish or shellfish.

Tannic and dense ruby/purple, it is more masculine and austere than usual, but still concentrated with tangy acidity, loads of tannin, and impressive levels of concentration and richness. This is a beauty that will require patience. Give it 3-4 years of bottle age and then drink it over the following 10-12 years. The Ogiers are a wonderful family, and it’s gratifying to see the extraordinary quality of wine that continues to emerge from them. The son Stephane has taken over fully from his dad, who seems to be inching into full retirement, and continues to push the estate to higher and higher levels of quality."

ROBERT PARKER 90-93 POINTS:"Last year the 2010 Cote Rotie Brune et Blonde was revealing some green pepper notes, but that problematic issue has been completely resolved. The wine now offers up lots of Christmas fruitcake, tapenade, black currant, forest floor, incense and camphor characteristics. Although not as luxurious, extravagantly thick and viscous as the 2009, the 2010 will be drinkable early in life and should evolve for 10-15 years."

While it doesn’t have the over the top exuberance of the prior vintage, it offers incredibly pure, detailed and classic aromas and flavors of black pepper, currants, blackberry, mineral and smoked bacon fat. old vines in the “La Landonne” lieu-dit. This wine is more subtle, more elegant and “quieter” if you will than the “Chavaroche”. At the same time, it is very much a Levet wine with a bouquet of violets, wild berries, a touch of animal and resinous-like tannins that speak of the inclusion of stems (a hallmark of the Levet tradition). The “Journaries” is approachable at an earlier stage than its companion “La Chavaroche” but, that being said, it is a wine that not only ages gracefully but almost requires a touch of patience. We now import approximately 1500 bottles plus magnums of this cuvée each vintage." MADROSE.COM

Guigal before establishing their own vineyard in 1987. Yves Gangloff draws his wine-making experience from the time he spent at the Rhône Domaine Delas.
The intensely fruity Côte-Rôties of Gangloff has won numerous fans, among those many sommeliers, who enjoy matching them with local black truffle dishes. Gangloff labels -usually voluptuous nudes, are painted by Yves' brother. The spirit of Jacques Reynaud, the godfather of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, is always present. When the legendary founder of Château Rayas died suddenly in 1997, his wife asked their nephew, Read More...
Emmanuel Reynaud, to take the reins at both Château Rayas and Château Fonsalette. Already making wines at his father's Château des Tours, Emmanuel agreed.

He is somewhat reclusive, and can be found working his vineyards at most any time of day, every day. Emmanuel does not revel in the fame and notoriety that come with making such sought-after and acclaimed wines, but he continues to carry the mantle of his famous forebears, producing hauntingly aromatic wines at his three estates: Château Rayas, Château des Tours and Château de Fonsalette.

Situated in an old house flanked on both sides by tall towers (hence "des Tours"), Château des Tours is Emmanuel's own family estate, which he took over from his father, Bernard, in 1989. Emmanuel is, at heart, a farmer, and here he grows food for his family, in addition to grapes. Like all Reynaud vineyards, these are tended with the same organic methods, manually plowed, harvested much later than other producers and centered around a reverence for old-vine Grenache.

Château des Tours is located in Sarrians, Côtes-du-Rhône, just outside Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Weighty, complex and savory, the wines produced here are among the most well-regarded, sought-after bottles of the appellation.
