a vibrant bouquet of white flowers, white peach, tangerine and bitter citrus. This is followed by a medium to full-bodied, pure, elegant Condrieu that has terrific depth and richness to go with vibrant acidity, a focused texture and a great finish. It will be better next year and drink nicely through 2018."

WINE SPECTATOR 94 POINTS: "Offers a flattering, corpulent feel, with pear, creamed peach and papaya notes that glide along, lined with macadamia nut, bitter almond and green fig details. A flash of salted butter gives the showy finish good contrast. Very long, exhibiting gorgeous mouthfeel. Drink now through 2018. 90 cases imported." –JM

VINOUS MEDIA 94 POINTS: "(all new oak): Vivid yellow. High-pitched aromas of fresh citrus and orchard fruits, quinine, jasmine and chalky minerals, with a smoky quality emerging with aeration. Sappy and expansive on the palate, offering Meyer lemon and poached pear flavors plus a hint of anise. Alluringly sweet and broad on the finish, which clings with excellent tenacity and lingering notes of honeysuckle and chamomile. The blend of power and vivacity here is quite deft." -- Josh Raynolds

stunningly long personality. This is a superb quasi-modern style of Cornas that should be ready to drink in 2-3 years, and last for over a decade.

Proprietor Matthieu Barret is another member of Cornas’ younger generation of producers who have embraced the use of smaller barrels as well as more sanitary vinification techniques. The results are wines imbued with good purity, sweeter tannins, appellation typicity, and more approachable styles that retain 15 or more years of aging potential."

aromas and flavors of black raspberry, graphite, beef blood, iron, cedar and white pepper (among other things). This is Cornas at its finest, with insane aromatics, full-bodied richness and massive concentration, yet at the same time staying elegant, seamless and gorgeously pure. It’s more approachable than the 2010, but should still need 3-4 years of cellaring and have two decades of longevity."

and flavors. Dense, full-bodied and concentrated, with a hedonistic, voluptuous slant, drink it over the coming 6-7 years.

Another brilliantly run estate in the Northern Rhône, Eric and Joel Durand have made rich, concentrated and textured 2012s that show the vintage nicely. These should drink nicely on release yet evolve gracefully. Their 2013s follow suit, with their top cuvee, the Cornas Confidence, being the only wine that will really require cellaring to become approachable. The style here is quasi-modern, with plenty of destemming and moderate new oak, but the wines all hold onto plenty of Cornas character. They're highly recommended."

WINE SPECTATOR 91 POINTS: "Offers a solidly grippy feel, with cocoa powder, briar and dark tobacco notes supporting a dense core of black currant, fig and blackberry fruit. Sweet tapenade and tar notes lurk on the finish. Should stretch out in the cellar. Drink now through 2020. 500 cases made." –JM

Grenache and 10% Mourvedre, it comes primarily from the Plan de Dieu (Plain of God), which is situated northeast of Chateauneuf du Pape. This tank-aged, deep ruby/purple-colored, concentrated, fleshy, medium to full-bodied, supple offering reveals plenty of pepper, kirsch and black currant fruit intermixed with a notion of flowers. It is meant to be consumed during its first 2-3 years of life although I have tasted 10-year-old bottles that are still holding together."

de Beucastel Côtes du Rhône has juicy blueberry, garrigue and lavender notes to go with a fleshy, medium to full-bodied feel on the palate. Soft, with low acidity and a hard-to-resist feel, it has just enough tannic grip to keep it drinking nicely for 7-8 years."

STEPHEN TANZER 92 POINTS - - "Youthful purple. Spicy, highly perfumed dark berry and Indian spice scents show very good clarity and pick up a smoky nuance with air. Densely packed but lithe too, with juicy black and blue fruit flavors and a touch of lavender adding lift. Dusty tannins shape the finish, which clings with impressive tenacity and subtle spiciness. According to Marc Perrin, the vines that provide the fruit for this wine are now over 80 years old. Range: 90-92"

pepper and violet-like aromas and flavors. Drink it over the coming couple of years. Covering over 80 acres of prime real estate, all of which is in the la Solitude lieu-dit, Domaine de la Solitude is one of the oldest estates in Châteauneuf du Pape. Today it’s run by the Lancon family, who are the direct descendants of the Barberini family who came from Italy and created the estate in 1450. They produce up to four reds and two white Châteauneuf du Papes in any vintage. While they’re most widely known for the Châteauneuf du Papes, don’t miss their Côtes du Rhône, both the red and white are fabulous drinkers and represent value."

the northern areas of the Rhone valley.
We noticeably remember about the magnificent vintage 1999 which gave syrah of stunning freshness. They
were straightforward and precise. The syrah from Vinsobres and from the Terrasses Villafranchiennes of
the Gard give this year remarkable results. Be ready to taste this year a Côtes du Rhône full of fruit and
fresh aromas, with a nice tight texture. It will be “interesting” to propose this wine as a blind taste to your
friends (or your ennemies !!) to get them wrong. It is possible that a few of them think that this syrah comes
from Cornas or Crozes-Hermitage.. It is my pleasure to offer every year a wine of this quality at a
reasonnable level of price. This is what french wine means: bottle a bit of spirit even at an affordable price.
While I talk about spirit, I would like to thank my father who created this label that looks like us: it was 17
years ago. He had then drawn the pavillon, in the same style that he had used to create the Gigondas label
showing the Saint Cosme chapel … back in 1960.

our work every single day. Biodynamism guarantees this typicity of the singular terroir attaining wines which are all at once living, subtle and complex. The fermentation develops naturally without addition of yeasts or sulphur. The optimal maturity which we look for allows us to carry out long and slow macerations so as to preserve the source of our grapes. The influences of the lunar calendar guides the rhythm of our work of de-vatting right through to the bottling favouring fruit and flower days.
This is a dry wine, with a nose that expresses aromas of summer fruit; white peach, apricot. In the mouth it is straight, tight, a little saline expressing a beautiful minerality, with a rich, long, airy finish. To be consumed as an aperitif, with white meats, accompanying fish or shellfish.
