ROBERT PARKER 89 POINTS - " There are 3.5 million bottles of the 2009 Cotes du Rhone red, which represents an amazing value. A blend of 50% Syrah, 40% Read More...
Grenache and 10% Mourvedre, it comes primarily from the Plan de Dieu (Plain of God), which is situated northeast of Chateauneuf du Pape. This tank-aged, deep ruby/purple-colored, concentrated, fleshy, medium to full-bodied, supple offering reveals plenty of pepper, kirsch and black currant fruit intermixed with a notion of flowers. It is meant to be consumed during its first 2-3 years of life although I have tasted 10-year-old bottles that are still holding together."

the flavours. Wonderful smooth flavours of licorice, cassis and black cherries in this Cotes Du Rhone from Domaine Les Aphillanthes. Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre. Biodynamic

WINE SPECTATOR 91 POINTS: "Fresh and enticing, with mouthwatering, finely beaded acidity along the edges of the blackberry-, raspberry- and fig-flavored core. Floral, spice and apple wood notes keep this humming through the finish. Drink now through 2016. 300 cases imported." –JM

ROBERT PARKER 88 POINTS: "The 2011 Cuvee des Galets Plan de Dieu (translated, “The Plan of God”) is composed of 60% Grenache, 20% Syrah and 20% Mourvedre that come from an ocean of vines that can be seen when leaving the Autoroute du Soleil and heading in the direction of Vacqueyras or Gigondas. It’s a sight to behold, and if you love Grenache, there is plenty of it here. This wine exhibits classic notes of kirsch liqueur, pepper, loamy soil, tobacco leaf and spice. Medium-bodied, richly fruity and well-made, it is ideal for drinking over the next several years."

with zippy acidity and a touch of white spices to make it a winner at the dinner table. Not overly complex but a crowd pleaser! It is a nicely balanced food wine, with solid but not overwhelming alcohol at 13.5%. An extremely good value! Food match: It calls for grilled meat or poultry! Particularly fine with Summer barbeques! But also charcuterie, pizza, pasta, etc…! Easy going!

Burgundian Yves Cheron graduated from the Lycée Viticole in Beaune in 1983 and headed south the following year to assume control of the family's new domaine in the Southern Rhône. Read More...
His father, Denis, Cheron, recognized the untapped potential of some of the region's lesser-known appellations back in the early 1960s and left Burgundy to set up shop in this sun-baked sub-region of Provence. Denis purchased a production facility in Vacqueyras and began vinifying wines for several area growers. It wasn't long before he had earned the trust and friendship of his client-vignerons. In 1982, one of them, the heirless owner of Grand Montmirail in Gigondas, decided to retire and gave Denis right of first refusal to buy his domaine in the appellation's southeast sector.

An earthy nose of violets, white pepper and sea salt leads to a palate rich in flavor: dark fruits, savory herbal tones, notes of briar and tilled soil.

One of the many reasons why we love this region in the south of France are on display in this bottling: the fantastic price of this bottling is trumped by the quality of the wine inside, it will drink wonderfully with or without food, it's easy-going and relaxed, like the Rhône sun.

Tannic and dense ruby/purple, it is more masculine and austere than usual, but still concentrated with tangy acidity, loads of tannin, and impressive levels of concentration and richness. This is a beauty that will require patience. Give it 3-4 years of bottle age and then drink it over the following 10-12 years. The Ogiers are a wonderful family, and it’s gratifying to see the extraordinary quality of wine that continues to emerge from them. The son Stephane has taken over fully from his dad, who seems to be inching into full retirement, and continues to push the estate to higher and higher levels of quality."
