Each block of Pinot Noir was hand-picked at night, hand-sorted, then de-stemmed into small open-top fermenters, where they cold-soaked for several days before the native yeasts took hold and started fermentation. The cap was punched down by hand periodically throughout the process. After fermentation, the wine was aged for 14 months in 40% new French oak barrels. The estate Pinot Noir always showcases a wide range of clones within the vineyard, with this vintage capturing nine of the ten Pinot Noir clones planted on the property. The core of this vintage’s blend is Clone 115, which does particularly well in California, and Archery Summit 828 brought down from their sister winery in Oregon several years ago.
