richer compared to the Bienvenues with an impressive abundance of mouth coating dry extract, indeed there is enough to impart a suave mouth feel to the big-bodied flavors that possess real power on the hugely long finish. Even by the typical out-sized standards of the typical Bâtard, this is a big but balanced effort that should reward up to a decade of cellar time." 2018+

and the bottom for a velvety, complex and lushly endowed Burgundian Pinot Noir with great staying power. Aromas remind of blackberries, violets and lightly toasted tobacco; the mouth is full and silky, with impressive freshness and lift, suggesting ripe cherries and more blackberries with real vibrancy and thrust. A gorgeous wine!

The wonderfully airy and layered nose offers up aromas of earth, wild cherry, raspberry and a hint of stone. There is excellent volume to the solidly well-concentrated medium weight flavors that are at once suave but detailed, all wrapped in a tension-filled, dusty, austere and mouth coating finish of impeccable balance. A classic Clos des Ursules that should reward well 12 to 15 years of cellaring."
eROBERT PARKER 91-93 POINTS: "The 2010 Beaune Clos des Ursules is dark, rich and gorgeous. Black cherries, plums and spices take shape beautifully in the glass, while the wine’s structure appears later. The balance of fruit, structure and acidity is so seamless that nothing really stands out here. The Ursules needs a few years in bottle to come together, but it is shaping up to be a gem. The Clos des Ursules shut down fairly quickly in the glass, suggesting it may be a number of years before the wine becomes truly expressive. Anticipated maturity: 2018-2028."

sunshine and a foundation of Gloria sandy loam soil. The high elevation, up to1200 feet, and southern locale of Las Alturas Vineyard is slightly warmer by day and cooler by night with abundant sunshine and less wind than the northern portion of the appellation. All of these favorable conditions work to enhance the phenolic profile of each berry. When planting this vineyard, various Pinot Noir clones and rootstocks were matched to the most fitting soil types and slopes. Yields are deliberately kept low in order to augment the fruit’s intensity. Dense, dark garnet in color, the aromas of juicy dark fruit, moist soil, vanilla and coco burst out of the glass. The palette is so rich that it can almost be chewed on. Flavors of pie filling, plum, cured meats and root beer enliven the senses. This wine has structural integrity, great depth, and the balanced acidity leads to a provocatively supple finish.

to the wine’s origins. The wine focuses on fruit from premier vineyards along the coastal regions of Sonoma, Santa Barbara, and Monterey Counties. Meiomi is everything a Pinot Noir should be, and one thing that most are not...mainly a great value, which is something very hard to find in the world of Pinot Noir! Seriously, there is a lot of Pinot Noir grown in California, but if it’s not grown in the right spots...then it turns out badly. However...Belle Glos is a colossal success!
