state famous for Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris also work for their sibling Pinot Blanc, giving Adelsheim wines that are racy, yet bold in character. By the 1970's in California, producers found that they had no true Pinot Blanc in the state, so David Adelsheim led a program to import two clones directly from Alsace to Oregon. Thus, David was in on the ground floor with this variety - 1989 was Adelsheim's first vintage.

Vivid green-apple and lemon flavors, this tangy mouthful mixes its high-acid lemony fruit with highlights of pineapple and grapefruit. Nicely delineated, but definitely for those who love acid.

Citrus blossom accents add lift to the nose and palate. There's nice weight here, balanced by tangy acidity, leading toward an unctuous finish. This versatile white wine makes a charming aperitif, but it really shines at the dinner table.

The new vintage of Harper Voit Pinot Blanc is here. For the fans of the 2013 the new vintage will not disappoint. Drew Voit is the former winemaker and vineyard manager of Shea Cellars. Read More...
Drew is now focusing on his own wines, making small amounts of Riesling, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Noir. There are only 300 cases of the new Pinot Blanc. With a little over 200 acres of Pinot Blanc planted in the Willamette Valley there is not a lot of Pinot Blanc around. Drew sources fruit from two vineyards: Amity Vineyard in Eola Amity Hills and Meredith Mitchell in McMinnville. The wine is barrel fermented in used French oak and aged surlie. Pinot Blanc will not blow you away with a powerful nose (like a Chardonnay or Viognier), but they can be exceptionally aromatic and very interesting. Reflecting the beautiful vintage, the fruit quality of the wine is bright, accompanied by laser-like acidity, honeyed aromatics, a savory, complex mid-palate showing good stone fruit, and a lengthy, saline, crisp and clean finish.

oak – it’s all about the fruit. Preventing malolactic fermentation keeps the acidity higher and the fruit brighter, a real bill of health for white wine intended to be enjoyed in its youth. That said, we are also discovering how well they age compared to barrel-aged whites. The winery's preference for whites is oak-free, so theirr Pinot Blanc and Semillon are aged in stainless steel tanks rather than barrel. Only 200 cases produced!

WillaKenzie 2013 Pinot Blanc – from two Alsace clones – is dominated by sweet corn and apple, garlanded in lily-of-the-valley and tinged with piquant corn shoots; saliva-liberating salt; and smoky black tea. Creamy yet vivacious and infectiously juicy – revealing a charming alliance characteristic for the best wines from this grape – this succulent bottling finishes with invigorating Saar-like hints of lime peel, apple pip, cherry pit, and wet stone. An outstanding value, it should prove versatile and still-succulent through at least 2016. I was shocked to discover that it weighs in at just over 14% alcohol, because it doesn't in any way betray that, not even in terms of bulk or body. "
