each of Tinta Barroca and Tinta Roriz, all aged for 13 months in French oak. This is a beautifully constructed Post Scriptum, elegant and graceful, yet focused, precise and flavorful. It is designed to have all of its parts in place, not to make you go “wow.” Aromatic and laced with floral nuances, it has a sappy taste in its youth, with some tannin pop and astringency on the finish that will integrate in time. This should develop well and drink decently early on, but give it a year or two in the cellar to settle down for best results. Bargain hunters will find that Post Scriptum is a particularly good value this year. On Day 1, there wasn’t much to choose from between this and big brother Chryseia, although they separated more significantly on Day 2. If you can’t spring for the pricier big brother, dive in right here. Drink 2014-2022. "

aged for 13 months 400-liter French oak. It is a fresh and elegant PS this year. Not overly concentrated, it does have beautiful, lifted fruit and an enticing fresh feel to it. In its own subtle way, this focused and very appealing PS should be a complete charmer. If it evolves well, it may yet be entitled to an uptick, but it won't disappoint at its typically nice price."

Quinta do Crasto has crafted another winner! This fantastic red blend from Portugal is a real crowd pleaser, made in a rich yet lively and accessible style. Coming on the heels of the successful 2011 vintage, this 2012 doesn’t miss a beat. Amazingly, many consumers have yet to catch on to the quality of the world-class wines being produced in Portugal. Perhaps it is because the native grapes used to make these wines are not household names, but they have definitely come to the attention of critics. In fact, Portuguese wines took 3 of the top 4 spots on Wine Spectator’s Top 100 list when it was released last year. With wines like this, it won’t take long for consumers to catch on. As for now, these wines continue to be a steal and remain one of the great undiscovered secrets and bargains of the world.

Deep violet in color. Expressive aromas of vibrant berry fruits combined with subtle hints of fresh spices. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and displays nice concentration with ripe red fruit including raspberry and cherry, along with notions of cocoa. With time in the glass, the wine becomes more complex and darker fruits, including blueberries emerge. Velvety tannins make the wine accessible now, but also capable of aging for the next 5-7 years. The finish is very long, showing excellent concentration and perfect balance. Simply Delicious! A blend of 50% Touriga Nacional, 25% Touriga Franca, 20% Tinta Roriz and 5% Sousao.

2011 Quinta Do Vallado Touriga Nacional is a rare gem comprised of 100% Touriga Nacional given 95 points by Wine Spectator it is “Highly Recommended”. With a dark crimson color that boasts great concentration it is filled with aromas of bergamot, dried fruit and wild cherries. The taste is elegant, round and mature, with refined tannins. Red fruits follow through from the nose into a long concentrated, fresh finish. With only 500 cases imported this treasure is ready to drink now or can be cellared through 2022.

“I believe it impossible to think of any other wine region anywhere in the world that has produced better wine in this year,” said British wine critic Jancis Robinson in relation to the Douro Valley 2011 vintage which is being heralded as the greatest vintage of the last 100 years or more. The Duoro Valley experienced perfect conditions for the 2011 vintage: cool spring, hot summer and just enough rain before the grapes were harvested; so as to plump them up and prevent the overripe dried raisin-y character that is so indicative of hotter years to come through.
