WINE ADVOCATE 91 POINTS - "The 2010 Pago de Valdoneje is a bit more expressive aromatically with a similar flavor profile. It, too, is meant for drinking over the next 4-5 years."This wine was another highlight at a recent staff "value" tasting, as it really stood out against many of the other wines. And why not! The nose starts with bright, forward fruit, almost in a Cru Beaujolais way, with notes of kirsch and mixed berries enwrapped with a mineral component, sea air and a touch of salted meat; the kind of nose that evokes a Pavlovian response. The palate keeps the fruit lively and uplifted with ripe cherry and mixed red berries riding a layer of balanced tannins toward a lengthy, lush finish.
