does this mean?...It means you have one of the more talented winemakers from Paso Robles and Santa Barbara bringing some of the most exciting wines! Now, anybody will tell you that 2010 was not an easy vintage for the Central Coast, but as we tasted Russell's wines, it was obvious that he has come through with another rockin' set of releases!
We like to think of this wine as an alternative for California Chardonnay drinkers. It has the weight and heft of Chardonnay, but with a completely different set of flavors and tactile sensations. The Tom Boy is a blend of 79% Viognier and 29% Roussanne from Larner and Camp 4 vineyards. It has a lovely straw/gold color with aromas and flavors of citrus rinds, apricots, white flowers, white tea, almond oil, and lots of glycerin. Rich, fragrant (as only Viognier can be), and decadent, this doubles as the the perfect beginning or end to a meal! Only 301 Cases Made!

Let's be blunt, finding a delicious Pinot Noir around the $10 mark is very hard to find, as Pinot Noir is a fickle grape, and only likes to grow in near perfect climates. But as Read More...
soon as we tried this beauty, everybody fell in love with it. And when we found out we could retail it for under $11, there wasn't a person on the wine staff whose eyes didn't pop out of their heads like a cartoon character. Not only are we convinced of the wine's value, but the L.A. Times just made this their Wine of the Week!
No joke, if this wine was priced just under $20, it would still be worth the money, and we have not found a domestic Pinot Noir value like this in quite some time! Sourced from Monterey, San Luis, and Santa Barbara counties, this wine has a dark ruby color with a great nose of cherry, cola, and a wonder floral component. Flavors of cherry, cola, plum, herb, are intermixed with lovely acid to keep it fresh, lively, and not too heavy. While this is a juicy and upfront wine, this has the texture and secondary characteristics of a wine that costs much, much more.

So when they came out with a Rosé of Pinot Noir, we were eager to taste it and see if this Rosé was just as good as the Pinot Noir.
Even though the winery is being “cute” with the names (Jack & Jill), this wine is a bit more serious. Made using grapes from the same vineyards that go into the Pinot Noir, this wine follows suite with the same great price to quality ratio as the red! Jillhammer shows a lovely light red color and aromas and flavors of rose petals, watermelon, strawberry and pomegranate. Round, juicy, pleasant and easy drinking, this should be great for Easter meals, sandwiches, and is a perfect picnic wine!

The latest release of their Chardonnay is beautiful. French oak was used to give the wine weight and richness, yet it did not undergo malolactic fermentation and partial tank fermentation was utilized to retain the grape's acidity.
Aromas of green apple, tropical fruit and ripe stone fruit combine with a hint of orange blossom on the nose of this wine. The entry is bright and crisp with good acid and flavors of peach, lemon and a hint of minerality. The wine finishes with multiple layers of honey, cream and a touch of caramel from the lees stirred French oak.

The grapes were destemmed, but not crushed, to maintain the maximum number of whole berries. Prior to fermentation, the grapes were cold soaked for two days before the free-run juice was separated from the press to reduce the astringency. The lots for this wine were fermented in a combination of rotary and conesweep tanks at 78°F for a slower fermentation to enhance the natural aromas and flavors of this Pinot Noir.
