OGIER 10 SYRAH LA ROSINE
WINE SPECTATOR 91 POINTS - “There’s silky mouthfeel despite the nice heft to the blackberry paste and crushed plum fruit, and the dark finish lets black tea and alder notes glide through. Finely beaded acidity stitches it all together. Drink now through 2015. 15 cases imported.”Ogier is one of the great names of the Côtes-Rôtie, but this wine is labeled with the rather tricky Vins de Pays “Les Collines Rhodaniennes.” The total area of the famed Côtes-Rôtie is only 450 acres and the “Rosine” bottling comes from an adjacent parcel that is outside the appellation, but shares the same granite soils as the AOC. La Rosine is 100% Syrah and shows classic Northern Rhône firmness and spice with a texture that more closely resembles Burgundy than New World Syrah.
