run vineyard has planted 15,000 vines of Pommard and Dijon clones, the blending of which produces a refined and elegant wine. The microclimate allows for a luxurious amount of “hang time” for the grapes and it’s evident in the glass. The winemaker is Jeff Gaffner of the highly-lauded Saxon-Brown and Xtant brands.

The Kite’s Rest Vineyard is located on a north facing slope in Anderson Valley’s remote “Deep End” district. Black Kite Cellars practices the highest level of site-specific, low-impact, sustainable, and fish-friendly viticulture. The 12-acre Pinot Noir vineyard is planted to three 4-acre blocks.

September 20th and October 1st with an ideal balance of sugar and acidity. With the Dijon clones supplying bright fruit and acidity, the small-berried Swan clone providing intense varietal flavors, and the Pommard clone contributing mid-palate weight and a warm spice tone, Two Creeks is a fruit-forward, yet complex pinot noir showcasing the best of Anderson Valley.

The 2013 Cakebread Cellars Two Creeks Pinot Noir boasts fragrant red and black cherry, red raspberry, strawberry and rose petal aromas. Carpe Diem Chardonnay is produced in Northern California's Anderson Valley. Over the years, this region has gained the reputation of an ideal terroir to grow Chardonnay for still wines. Read More...
Grapes for the Carpe Diem Chardonnay are selected exclusively from the best vineyards in Northern California's cool Anderson Valley. This fog-shrouded region not far from Mendocino Coast and the Pacific Ocean provides ideal growing conditions for these delicate grapes. Vinified under the meticulous supervision of Roederer Estate's Winemaker Arnaud Weyrich, Carpe Diem's philosophy is to offer the most discriminating wine enthusiast the best of two worlds: the richness of California fruit combined with the elegance and the complexity of a wine made in the Burgundian tradition. The result is a Chardonnay ripe with aromas and very fruity, but with limited oak expressions. Acidity levels show off the Anderson Valley climate.

to our face; we almost come to blows deciding who gets to go home with the bottle! Winemaker Wells Guthrie believes that the best wines are a reflection of the vineyard, varietal and vintage. Therefore, he has sought out vineyards capable of producing world-class wines, such as James Berry, Clos Pepe, Thompson and Garys’ Vineyards. The Tous Ensemble, or “All Together” series is dedicated to producing top-quality wines which represent a blend from some of the best organically farmed vineyards in the appellation.

The 2011 Tous Ensemble Pinot is an embodiment of the earthy, sweet beet root undertones that are indicative of Anderson Valley Pinot. Medium-bodied with vibrant dark red fruits on the nose and palate, it delivers pure, focused flavors with a great lift on the finish from the acidity.

occurred in French oak barrels, and limited malolactic fermentation was permitted. The wine was aged sur lie in 60 gallon neutral French oak barrels for nine months. The use of no new oak and very little malolactic fermentation keeps the focus on the fruit in our vibrant 2012 Anderson Valley Chardonnay. Bright aromatics of lemon verbena and white grapefruit mingle with subtle notes of green apple and quince. Intense flavors of Meyer lemon, kumquat, and Asian pear are punctuated by the refreshing acidity that leaves a long, mouthwatering finish.

wineries trying their hand with sparkling wines. That is one of reasons we are so fired up about this hand-crafted sparkler from Mary Elke. The other reason is that this beauty offers a depth and overall quality that is rare at this modest price. The hallmark of this bubbly is its compelling, purely rendered fruit (60% Chardonnay/40% Pinot Noir), most of which is drawn from the Elke family’s highly regarded Donnelly Creek Vineyard in Anderson Valley. Winemaker Matt Evans uses a hand-cranked basket press and other equipment and practices that would be familiar to winemakers from hundreds of years ago. Evans’ traditional wine- making techniques along with a minimal regime of yeast aging (just seven months) work in concert to bolster this Brut’s fruit profile. The result is a lip-smacking, California-styled bubbly that offers pristine pear, apple and guava flavors under-scored with beams of citrus and just a whisper of yeast. A novel call for Holiday parties when you want to impress for less.

over the wine was adjusted in duration and frequency, depending on taste and yeast activity (one to three times per day). The ferments were pressed off between one and four brix and then returned to tank. Once dry, the wine was racked off lees and inoculated for malolactc fermentation. MLF was done in tank and barrel, and upon completion, racked into barrel for 20 months. Complex plum and boysenberry aromas combine with rich cassis notes and hints of pine and earth. The cold Yorkville nights preserved the wine's acidity and helped maintain the balance of elegance and alcohol that makes this wine so food-friendly. Twenty months' aging in French and American oak has smooted the palate and added a layer of vanilla to the long, concentrated finish.

each and every year, we think it’s a success! In our opinion, the Pinot Noirs have been the highlight of each year’s release, and with 2012 being a vintage of amazing quality, we don’t expect this to be around for long! The fruit comes from Twomey’s own Momument Tree Vineyard, as well as Ferrington Vineyard. Both vineyards have naturally low yields and are sustainably farmed! Aged in 50% new French oak for 12 months, this is a complex wine that combines the bright acidity of western Anderson Valley with the riper fruit characteristics of Boonville, showing a dark cherry-red color and a nose of rose petals, very ripe strawberries, cut hay and toffee. It has a juicy entry followed by a creamy texture and a hint of minerality on the finish. With proper cellaring, this wine will give drinking pleasure through 2023.
