MOUNTFORD 09 RIESLING "RICHE"
The fruit for this wine is sourced from a vineyard not far from Mountford in Waipara and we were struck by its similarity to a well-made German Spatlese. In fact, this outstanding wine is, aromatically, a near dead ringer for Wehlener Sonnenuhr fruit from the likes of producers like JJ Prum, etc. It’s fruitier than its German counterparts but citrus, minerals and white peach abound on nose and palate and this off-dry white expoldes in the mouth and finishes with fresh acidity. It’s a stunner for sure and the ideal white for the Thanksgiving table.
