MILOS 08 PLAVAC MALI

The Milos winery is located on the beautiful mountainous peninsula of Peljesac, just outside the ancient town of Ston. Plavac Mali (the result of a crossing of the original Zinfandel vine, Crljenak, and another Croatian red, Dobricic) is the principal red grape variety grown in Croatia. Milos has some of the best vineyard sites on the peninsula -- steep limestone slopes looking down on the Adriatic sea.

The 2008 has a nose of red roses, autumn leaves and mushrooms giving way to rich red and black fruit flavors and well rounded tannins. Frano Milos uses natural yeast fermentation and ages the wine for 12 months in neutral Slavonian oak followed by 24 months bottle aging before release.
