MAISON PASCALE MARCHAND 2011 MEURSAULT

The story of the Maison Marchand-Tawse in Burgundy begins with the extraordinary story of Pascal Marchand, the French Canadian boy wonder, who in 1985 at 22 years old, took the reins of the Clos des Epeneaux in Pommard, became an overnight sensation, and in the process pretty much defined modern Burgundy. Absolutely classic aromas, round and silky.

Blend of 3 parcels: Narvaux: On the top of the hillside. Limestone soil with a lot of gravels Grands Charrons: Clay and limestone soil with a lot of gravels and alluviums. Crotots (10%): On the foothill. The soil is mainly clay with limestone and small gravels.

Press whole bunch, lightly crushed. Long fermentation in French Allier oak barrels, 25% new, toasted long, light and slowly. Fermentation with a lot of lies but no batonnage to give complexity and freshness.

22 months of ageing in french oak barrel. No racking during the ageing. Bottled without any fining or filtration. All the ageing operations are carried out according to the lunar calendar.
