Gary Pisoni has a story similar to that of the Krupp Brothers. When he told his neighbors he wanted to plant a vineyard on the family’s hillside property in Monterey County, they told him it wouldn’t work. The Pisoni family’s hard work has paid off in dividends, and now fruit from the Pisoni family’s vineyards are some of the most sought after in California’s Central Coast! This Syrah comes from Garys’ Vineyard, a plot owned by both Gary Pisoni and his friend Gary Franscioni. This wine is deep garnet in color. Its beautiful aromas leap out of the glass and display a mélange of boysenberry, sage, dried lavender, rose petal, stone fruit and red peppercorn. On the palate, the wine is very focused, following a tight core of soft tannins and firm acidity that evolves to a gentle finish. The Syrah opens up even more with decanting or aeration in the glass. Drink now through 2020.
