and expanded on the initial fruit-laden theme. Sweet yet almost tart, notes of star fruit, more gooseberry and white grapefruit merged with a lush mouthfeel, counterbalanced by good acidity to keep it clean and buoyant. Hints of apricots, orange blossoms and clover honey furthered the delicious depth on the palate. The finish is fresh and quick but with a lingering fruit essence and mixed floral touch that reverberates nicely.

This wine is perfect for the warm weather we’ve been having and has a classic Loire Valley profile with a nice dollop of New Zealand-esque citrus-- it’s balanced, clean, fresh, uplifting and clearly a worthy Hi-Time Wine of the Month. Enjoy!

I have been writing about Les Rocailles’ crisp, light-bodied, fresh, flowery white wines since the early 1990s, and I believe that Dan Kravitz was probably the first American importer to bring in Apremont from France. None of these offerings spend time in oak. The whites are best consumed within 12-24 months after release."

18th century). The domaine wasn't only producing wine at the begining of its existence but was more oriented towards polyculture (cereals, cattle, etc.) and slowly expanded throughout the years. Today, Domaine de Veilloux is owned by Michel and Silviane Quenioux with their son Arnaud working in the vineyards.

The estate is managed according to natural principles (certified organic) with a great care of the various local grape varieties (Menu Pineau, Sauvignon Blanc, Gamay, etc.). The soils are mainly made of clay but with little differences according the plot considered (clay with sand or clay with flint for instance). The winemaking is respectful of the fruit and the ageing is usually long, thus producing complex wines that really reflect the terroir of the Cheverny appellation.

These vineyards have been biodynamically cultivated since 2000.Grolleau, a varietal native to Touraine, has played a major part only in Rosé d’Anjou in the past, as it is prone to very high yields. When yields are limited, however, and the vines are very old and cultivated 100 percent biodynamically, as at Clau de Nell, the results are surprising, with a remarkable purity of fruit and velvety, tight tannins.

The percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon will vary slightly depending on the vintage.
