LA MOZZA 2007 ARAGONE
WINE ADVOCATE 92 POINTS - "The 2007 Aragone is a blend of Sangiovese, Alicante, Syrah and Carignano. Racy dark red cherries, flowers, earthiness and licorice are some of the nuances that flow from this textured, expressive wine. In 2007, Aragone sits on the razor’s edge of over ripeness; coming close, but never going over the top. A refined, polished finish serves to balance some of the more opulent qualities. This racy, sexy wine delivers incredible quality for the money. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2020."La Mozza is a partnership between Joe Batianich and Mario Batali that sits in Morelino di Scansano—one of the warmest corners of the Tuscan Coast. There is a unique bit of history on this part of the Tuscan Coast with a period of Spanish occupation. The darkly colored and rich clone of Grenache known locally as “Alicante” gives this blend a warmer, Rhône-like texture that melds seamlessly with the red raspberry from the Sangiovese.
