long history of grape growing and wine production, which was probably introduced by the ancient Romans. The 'Golden Age of Alicante' wines was during the 16th and 17th centuries, when they were imported to northern Europe by English, Swedish and Flemish merchants. While this 'Golden Age' may have been long ago, the wines produced from this area are still fantastic and can be some of the best-priced, 'top value' wines we see and taste.

The grape used in this wine is 100% Monastrell with the age of the vines ranging from 25-35 years old. The soil is very chalky and are at an elevation of some 2,100 feet above sea level. The winery owns (80 hectares) 192 acres of vineyards, some of which are certified organic.
