WINE ADVOCATE 91 POINTS - "The purple-colored 2006 The McRae Wood Shiraz spent 15 months in seasoned American and French oak. it gives up an alluring bouquet of cigar box, Asian spices, incense, plum, and blueberry. Layered, ripe, and plush on the palate, this full-bodied offering is densely packed and concentrated. It contains enough structure to evolve for 3-4 years and will offer a drinking window extending from 2012 to 2021.If we(Hi-Times) had to pick a favorite Clare Valley producer it would definitely be Jim Barry. For us, they are one of the true icons of the Australian wine industry and their McRae Wood Shiraz is always good. Their 2006 is full-bodied and mouth-filling as it offers up loads of delicious black fruit flavors with ample structure to boot. It’s another of our customer favorites that continues to fly out of the cellar."
