The fresh wine is blended with the juice from the dried grapes for a second fermentation and

The estate dates to 1581 and has a long reputation as top of producer of classically styled Brunellos. The “Non Confunditur” is Argiano’s modern, “break all the rules,” super-Tuscan—made 100% from Argiano’s Montalcino estate, but using only 20% Sangiovese in the blend. The rest of the “Non Confunditur” is 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, and 20% Syrah. There is a pronounced note of zinging red cherry fruit and spicy perfume from the Sangiovese while the rest of the components harmoniously create a round, velvety texture and rich, fruity, succulence. The track record here is incredible as the 2007 and 2009 were both listed in Wine Spectator’s Top 100 list. James Suckling was Wine Spectator’s man in Italy for nearly 30 years—he’s since gone his own way, but here are his notes on the 2010. We’ve tasted and agree, the 2010 is the best “NC” to date.
