While there are more than a few one-noted Chardonnays out there, we were pleased to come across this little beauty that offers a bit more of that "quartet" approach. The Russian River Valley is known throughout the world for its ability to produce world-class Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays, and the locals at Healdsburg Ranches know which vineyards may not have those "big names" attached to them, but can produce grapes that will rival others from the area. The source for this bottling comes from a dry farmed property on Eastside Road, full of river gravel and sand.A distinctly cool climate Chardonnay, this wine offers outstanding aromatics of pear, lemon peel, and fresh flowers. The palate is broad and layered with flavors of baked apple, Meyer lemon, and a touch of vanilla. In all, this is a well-rounded, well-balanced Chardonnay that is both bright and crisp, up front, and long and smooth on the finish.
