HANZELL 10 CH ESTATE
Do you really think that white wines cannot age? Especially those from California? If so, then you couldn’t be more misinformed! The Hanzell Chardonnays have stood the test of time to show that they are capable of aging… for decades! In 1948, Ambassador James D. Zellerbach set out to create a small vineyard and winery dedicated to the best traditions of Grand Cru Burgundy: Pinot Noir and Chardonnay of extraordinary quality and great longevity. He succeeded, and gave us one of the greatest legacies of winemaking in the New World! The deft hands of winemakers Bob Sessions and Lynda Hanson are able to display a purity of expression with minerality and honest varietal character. The wine expresses an elegant fragrance of chamomile, lemon and grapefruit, with darker tones of honey and beeswax followed by hazelnut and even savory elements of thyme and walnut. Flavors of pear, green apple, and lemon zest harmonize with distinct minerality, acidity, and subtle oak.
