TERLANO 2011 PINOT GRIGIO Terlano is a wine-growing village locataed half way between South Tyrol's main towns of Merano and Bolzano where the Adige flows through a wide valley in a south-easternly direction. The village and vineyards have well-drained sandy-stony red porphyry rock soil. There's a nice minerally edge to this lively Pinot Grigio, along with lemon zest, white peach, apple blossom and graham cracker notes. This shows balance, and a lingering, aromatic finish. Drink now through 2013.

Fratelli Revello 2007 Barolo

WINE ADVOCATE 91 POINTS - The 2007 Barolo Gattera is nicely balanced although it is the most linear of the single-vineyard Baroli in this lineup. Crushed flowers, mint and ripe red fruit come together nicely on a mid-weight frame. The finish shows distinct elements of salinity that provide drive and focus. This is a huge wine with tons of 2007 Castelnuovo character, but also with enough freshness to balance out the wine’s more extroverted leanings. TERREDORA DIPAOLO 2006 TAURASI

The red wines of the Taurasi zone are the most celebrated fine wines made in Southern Italy. It’s not uncommon to see passionate descriptions of Taurasi as the "Brunello" or "Barolo" of Southern Italy - indeed Taurasi has the power and ageability of the biggest Brunellos, but also a heady perfume quality combining earth, spice, and dried potpourri floral aromas with some of the same elegance and range as Barolo. In his book Making Sense of Italian Wine, Matt Kramer sums up Taurasi’s rare combination of power and elegance as being like, "a powerful linebacker of uncommon grace and sure footedness." He also notes "Taurasi is a wine seemingly designed by God himself for happy carnivores everywhere." We featured the 2004 Terredora Taurasi as one of our wines of the year in 2010 and we're happy to have the new 2005 vintage back in the store.
