were used to achieve complexity and balance. Of key importance was picking the grapes before the natural acidity was lost. The wines spend a further 2 months on fine lees to gain texture and complexity. The resultant wine is a joy to taste: lush, lean and sexy, balanced and beautiful, athletic and gorgeous.

The nose is filled with fruit and florals: lychee, mixed stonefruits, fields of wildflowers, orange blossom. A streak of river water minerality courses throughout. The palate swells with lush viscosity that is cleaned up by acidity, uplifted and brightened. Tastes of white peach, nectarine, apricot and lychee merge with sea salt and nougat on the midpalate. Hints of hazelnut, orange pith and mandarin orange reverberate as the finish lasts and lasts. This is 100% Garnatxa Blanca (white Grenache) that is perfect for the Dog Days of summer: it's very tasty, quite refreshing and drinks way out of its niveau!

it is only fitting that a west Paso white can be as profound and expressive as its red cousins from the same vineyards. Winemaker Jordan Fiorentini has officially geeked out and done many different fun winemaking techniques on this white – from concrete fermentation on Grenache Blanc to skin contact on the Viognier. The result is a wine with great minerality and acidity (thank you Grenache Blanc) with mouth-coating stone fruit and ginger spice elements courtesy of a nice wallop of Viognier. This wine should age beautifully, if you’re willing to wait that long!

and Viognier, this white wine offers a complex bouquet of lemon blossom, jasmine and pineapple. The wine is rich on the palate with flavors of melon and ripe peach which segue into a clean, mineral finish. Delicious to sip on its own, this unique wine is also a wonderful complement to pâté, seafood, poultry, and creamy, soft-ripening cheeses. Enjoy it over the next 2-3 years. Think of something with more weight than a Sauvignon Blanc, but lighter than a Chardonnay…it's the best of both worlds!

out before it hits the shelf! Here, Matt sticks with white Rhône varietals, blending together 57% Grenache Blanc, 20% Picpoul Blanc, 14% Viognier and 9% Roussanne. The first two varietals bring fresh, lively, and zippy notes, while the Viognier brings aromatics, and the Roussanne weight. You end up with a wine that’s got more body than a Sauvignon Blanc, but it’s not quite as heavy as a Chardonnay. This wine is extremely aromatic, with a bouquet and flavors of honeysuckle, acacia flowers, pears, flint apple, and citrus. Medium- to full-bodied, yet fresh, clean and amazing, this might be one of the best white wines to come out of Paso Robles!

Somerston Wines and their Priest Ranch. This is a sustainably-farmed vineyard that is producing some of the best Cabernet Sauvignon in the Napa Valley, yet they are flying under the radar, even for many who live in the Napa Valley. Some of their Cabernet vines are 40 years old, and while they keep a little for themselves, other wineries such as Kathryn Hall and Orin Swift have gladly stepped up to obtain the grapes!

Owner Allan Chapman is a phenomenal steward of the land (one of the best we've seen anywhere in California), and the winemaking team of Craig Becker and Kent Jarman (also of Kenefick and Joseph Kent) assure that the ensuing wines remain unmanipulated, and show distinct terroir!

The 2013 vintage was a classic, a near perfect growing season. The mild summer and warm weather after verasion caused the fruit to development with classic balance; great flavors, good acidity, and mature tannins. This Grenache Blanc was fermented in both stainless steel drums and tanks. Native yeasts fermented the wine at a controlled 60 degrees F. When primary fermentation was complete, The wine was sulfured to prevent Malolactic fermentation. Then, the balance of the wine in tank was barreled down into Stainless steel drums and about 10% neutral French oak. The wine was aged on the lees for 5 months, and stirred once a week until bottling.

This wine has bright aromas of melons and honeysuckle. The palette is crisp with good acidity, a touch of tannins, and bright stone fruits. This wine unique wine from the Eastern hills of the napa valley showcases the diversity of our property.

Curt decided to go his own way. He has rapidly made a name for himself within the "Cal-Rhone Community" as one of the hot new producers of Syrahs, Grenaches, Viognier, and blends. His "Groundwork" lineup represents one heck of a value, and the Sans Liege wines really showcase his abilities. Fermented in a combination of new and neutral oak barrels, this is a blend of 70% Grenache Blanc and 30% Roussanne from Alta Colina Vineyard, and the wine displays much of what makes the Alta Colina vineyard a mesmerizing site.

Curt's Tasting Notes: "Along the craggy coast there stands a lighthouse, seemingly carved from air, on a lush prominence. While the ocean scrapes the shore, seeking to steal the beacon, the land is slowly covered entire with white flowers and sunlight. On those first Spring days, the lighthouse keeper - his spirit renewed after months of bone cold - begins to prepare a luxurious breakfast, the scents of belgian waffle, meyer lemon, warm apple compote and clove mist mingle with the the awakening herbs and flowers: jasmine, young limes, sage and wintergreen. The sea continues to rise and yell, spitting spray onto the rocks and releasing heaps of soft chalk from the earth, while the keeper cautiously munches on brioche."

of budwood. Some of these vineyards had unclaimed grapes, and since the quality was high, Tablas Creek stepped in and began to produce this "hometown" bottling.

The Tablas Creek Vineyard Patelin de Tablas Blanc is a blend of four white Rhône varietals: Grenache Blanc, Viognier, Roussanne, and Marsanne. The wine incorporates fruit from eleven top Rhone vineyards in Paso Robles, each vineyard selected for its quality. Like many white wines from the Southern Rhône, it is based on the crisp acids and rich mouthfeel of Grenache Blanc, with Viognier added for floral, tropical aromatics, and small additions of Roussanne and Marsanne for structure.

A blend of 54% Grenache Blanc, 25% Viognier, 13% Roussanne, and 8% Marsanne, The 2013 Patelin de Tablas Blanc shows fruity, floral aromas of honeysuckle, apricot and candied grapefruit, with a spicy mineral note emerging with air. In the mouth it's mouth-filling with peach and lemon zest flavors and a creamy texture, but kept fresh by vibrant acids. The finish is long, rich and clean, with lingering flavors of peach and mineral. Drink now and for the next 2-3 years.
