ROBERT MONDAVI 2012 CABERNET SAUVIGNON RESERVE NAPA VALLEY 750mL
WINE SPECTATOR 95 POINTS - "An iron fist in a velvet glove, this wine begins with a supple, rich core of currant, black cherry, anise and sage, firming up with tannins from oak and grape. Glides along gracefully, never losing the core fruitiness, while the tannins and gravelly earth accents lend the flavors tension and traction. Drink now through 2029. 7,269 cases made."

ANTONIO GALLONI 94 POINTS - "A dark, sumptuous beauty, the 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve To Kalon Vineyard boasts marvelous depth and pure texture. Hints of mocha, espresso, cloves, new leather and menthol wrap around a core of dark, pliant fruit. The 2012 has just been bottled, but it is already hugely expressive. In particular, the addition of 7% Cabernet Franc is quite noticeable in the wine's super-expressive, resonant aromatics."

MEMENTO MORI 2012 CABERNET SAUVIGNON NAPA VALLEY 750mL
Memento Mori translates to "Remember you will die". However, the creators of Memento Mori wine use that statement so that they "Remember to Live. In 2007, Adriel Lares, Hayes Drumwright, and Adam Craun dove head first into Memento Mori with a goal to create a winery that would use all of Napa as its estate. For three years, they tasted and researched, combining a respect for tradition with their unique entrepreneurial energy.

The backbone of this wine is comprised of three of the best vineyards in Napa Valley; Beckstoffer Dr. Crane & Beckstoffer Las Piedras in St. Helena, and another killer vineyard in Oakville right next to Phelps' Backus Vineyard. In addition, they've got one of the hottest new winemakers in the Valley, Sam Kaplan. No matter how much they lose in the process of blending, they will never compromise on quality. Life is too short.

ROBERT PARKER 95 POINTS - "Not surprisingly, the 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon is deeper, richer and more opaque purple-colored than the 2011, displaying lots of blueberry, crème de cassis, licorice, camphor, barbecue smoke and a touch of wood. Full-bodied and ostentatious with great density, purity and palate presence, it can be enjoyed over the next 10-15 years."

KATHRYN HALL 2012 CABERNET SAUVIGNON NAPA VALLEY
ROBERT PARKER 97+ POINTS - "Kathryn Hall’s winery is certainly one of the more dramatic as well as up-and-coming superstars of Napa Valley. It seems every effort is made to propel these wines into the very top echelon of quality. There is not a lot to criticize with the multitude of bottlings, all of which offer considerable character and appeal."

"The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Kathryn Hall is largely sourced from their Sacrashe Vineyard. The color is dense ruby/purple. The wine is very young, and less evolved than many of its peers, but bursting with potential. Lots of blueberry and black raspberry fruit with a hint of mocha and background oak are all present in this full-bodied, opulent, absolutely spectacular Cabernet Sauvignon. This is a long-distance runner, although not so much because of the tannic structure, because the fruit seems younger and more primary than some of its siblings. Nevertheless, it is loaded with potential promise, and as Kathryn Hall says so frequently, “Magic.” This full-bodied, classic Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa should hit its prime in 4-5 years and last at least two decades or more."
