FIN AMOR 11 "CUTHBERT" CATALAN
Made from a very rare Carignane Blanc vineyard over 60 years old, this beautiful white wine also contains Grenache Gris from the Maury rocky schist soils at the foot of the Pyrenees. This rare and elegant white wine opens up with hints of marzipan, quince, fennel, white peach and a backbone of intense minerality. It possesses incredible texture, highly complex with a long finish of exotic fruit and rocky minerality. It is unlike any white wine with which you are familiar, and this scarce, extraordinary varietal wine is limited to 22 cases produced! This is a remarkable wine made by the talented Jordan Fiorentini and consulting winemaker Justin Smith (of Saxum fame). Located on the Westside of Paso Robles, the Epoch’s Paderewski Vineyard is a patchwork of different vineyard blocks matched to their specific soil and climate types, and the 2009 Estate Blend captures that patchwork in a bottle. Predominantly Syrah, but combined with almost every other red variety from the estate, this wine gives a sweeping glimpse of the vineyard and Jordan’s winemaking practices. As a true field blend, the 2009 Estate Blend combines 15 different harvest picks. This brings us everything we have come to love from this Paso Robles estate. The 2009 Epoch Estate Blend has a lovely ruby/garnet color and heady aromas of boysenberry, raspberry, blackberry, clove and a hit of vanilla. It is ripe, lucious and fruit-forward on the palate, but it does not feel heavy. In fact, there is some nice acidity (we suspect from the Grenache) that gives this wine lift and balance.
