DuMol's Russian River Valley Chardonnay is comprised of fruit from seven prestigious vineyards, including their Estate Vineyards, Dutton Ranch, Heintz, Hyde, and Lorenzo. Hand harvested grapes were sorted in the vineyards then whole-cluster pressed. Barrel fermented with native yeasts and native malolactic fermentation, the wine was aged for 15 months in 40% new French oak.2010 rivals 2008 as winemaker Andy Smith's favorite vintage in recent memory. Across the board, the wines are more lively and focused. This multi-vineyard blend displays a light green/yellow color, and shows a wonderful aromatic range of cantaloupe, grapefruit, green apple, and a hint of cut grass. Richer almond and oatmeal aromas build with air (a hint to decant), along with an intriguing fennel and spearmint edge. Bone dry tightly-coiled on the palate, white peach, crunchy apple, sweet lime, greet the tounge with a clean saline edge, yet the texture broadens as it opens in the glass. Taut acidity brings structure and length.
