DANCING HARES 2011 PROPRIETARY RED NAPA VALLEY 750mL

The goal at Dancing Hares is to produce a wine, without varietal designation, that best captures the character of the vintage and the vineyard. Vintners Bob Cook and Paula Brooks have put together a dream team for this incredible project: Andy Erickson (winemaker), Michel Rolland (consulting oenologist) and David Abreu (vineyard manager).

Dancing Hares’ vineyard is a uniquely planned, impeccably maintained five-acre estate vineyard tucked in the eastern hills of the Napa Valley, at the foot of Howell Mountain. The vineyard consists of two distinct parcels that, when blended, produce wines of depth and distinction.

A blend of 27% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Cabernet Franc, 35% Merlot, and 5% Petit Verdot, meticulous work in the vineyard, and careful sorting of the fruit in the winery, made for an exceptional bottling of Dancing Hares Vineyard from 2011 vintage. The wine is robust but soft and generous, with notes of brambly black fruits, forest floor, and pipe tobacco. While the wine is juicy and generous, it also offers many layers of interest to contemplate. A strict selection of barrels during blending means that this release of Dancing Hares will be very limited. Those lucky enough to receive the wine will be happy now, and for years to come.

WINE SPECTATOR 93 POINTS - "Dense and decadent, with rich, mocha-covered currant and blackberry flavors, with fresh black licorice, cedar and dried herb notes. Finishes with tight, gripping tannins, but the flavors push through in an impressive way. Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. Drink now through 2022. 500 cases made."
