the inaugural release of FIGGINS perfectly exemplifies the brilliance of this vintage from the Walla Walla Valley. The wine has loads of bright raspberry, blueberry, red apple cider, Grand Marnier, tobacco and sage with further notes of cassis, red fruits, blackberries, currants, fruit tree flowers and a slight hint of cedar shavings. On the palate the wine has a remarkable freshness and excellent length highlighted by super fine-grained, silky tannins. Having a core of precise “just ripe fruit” the wine has power but emphasizes restraint, elegance and balance.
ROBERT M. PARKER, JR.'S THE WINE ADVOCATE 94 POINTS
"The 2008 Figgins Estate Red Wine is the inaugural release of a wine made by Chris Figgins, son of Leonetti Cellar founder, Gary Figgins. The fruit was sourced from the Figgins Estate Vineyard which is planted to Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, and Merlot. The wine was aged in 70% new French oak for 22 months before bottling without fining or filtration. A total of 831 cases were produced. Sandalwood, exotic spices, sage, cherry blossom, cassis, and blackberry aromas inform the nose of a dense, rich, elegant, beautifully proportioned wine that has enough ripe, fine-grained tannin to blossom for another 4-5 years. It offers a drinking window extending from 2015 to 2023, perhaps longer. All in all, not a bad debut."

and Araujo…so you get the kind of grapes are grown here! Winemaker CeliaWelch (who also makes Scarecrow, Corra, Keever, and Lindstrom) does an amazing job on all of her projects and we are proud supporters of them all! This is a powerful yet elegant wine, displaying a dark garnet color and aromas of black cherry, currants, minerals, cocoa, and roasted coffee. The flavors follow suit, where they are joined by cassis, red cherry, and a hint of anise. Full-bodied, muscular, and firm, this wine should drink well for another 15 years, and is irresistible now!
ROBERT PARKER'S THE WINE ADVOCATE 93 POINTS - "Kelly Fleming’s 300-acre estate in Calistoga includes 12 acres of Cabernet Sauvignon that was planted beginning in 1999. Celia Welch makes the wines. This is going to be an interesting estate to follow in the coming years.
"The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon shows a little more depth and tannic spine than the 2008. Dark red fruit, spices, licorice, mint and flowers wrap around the juicy, delineated finish. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2021."
WINE SPECTATOR 93 POINTS - "A mouthful of pleasure, with a core of rich, supple blackberry, mocha, currant, exotic spice and light cedar flavors, all deftly proportioned and sharply focused. Most pleasing on the finish, where the flavors sail on. Drink now through 2024."

prominent appellations in the Country.
At harvest, several tanks were pressed off their skins immediately following primary fermentation – Thus retaining that bright, fruit forward character. The balance was then left on the skins for an additional three week period, which provides that full bodied mid-palate and elongated finish to the wine.
The aromatics are comprised of cinnamon clove spice, black currant and anise – While the mid palate exhibits jammy, fleshy overtones. While this is a big wine, the tannins are very soft and supple – Hints of tobacco, cedar and vanilla accompany the long rich finish.

his “winemaking teeth” at Opus One and ZD, so he knows how to get everything he wants out of his grapes. This bottling is all Mt. Veeder fruit, aged for 21 months entirely in French oak.
The 2009 vintage was not an early season in Napa Valley but on Mount Veeder they picked earlier than the valley floor due to unusually high temperature inversions, resulting in intense ripe flavors. Warmer mornings led to riper fruits and an intense concentration of flavors resulting in a bold, chewy wine.
This wine is loaded with dense fruit on the nose, a solid round core on the palate and a persistent long finish making it an exceptionally high caliber Cabernet. It displays a pure concentration of fruit framed with polished, seamlessly integrated tannins and a persistent, lingering finish highlighted by notes of vanilla and mocha. The fine grain tannins and concentrated dark fruit flavor lend to a unique richness found only in mountain fruit.

2010 was not an easy vintage in Napa Valley, but it did result in great wines! The year was cool to moderate in temperatures, but a touch of heat in late August gave the grapes the little extra push they needed. After that, it was an Indian summer that let the grapes hang as long as they wanted...until they were virtually perfect. The resulting Cabernet Sauvignons from Mt. Veeder are ripe, with good structure, and density shown only a few times a decade!
On the palate, black currant, blackberry, and caramelized cherries compliment the pure concentration of deep, dark fruit displayed in this wine. The bouquet is generous and diverse, a marriage of fruit, allspice, nutmeg and espresso bean. Framed with polished, integrated tannins and a persistent, lingering finish the full mouth feel and velvety texture give a unique richness found only in Mt. Veeder fruit.

"The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon is stunning. An exotic, open bouquet melds into dark red fruit in this racy, sexy Cabernet. Espresso, graphite, crushed flowers, spices, mint and licorice are some of the notes that emerge from the glass. All of the elements flow together gracefully to the refined, supple finish. The 2009 will take a few years to come around, but it is dazzling and immensely appealing, even today. The blend is 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Petit Verdot and Merlot, all from Forman’s vineyard at the base of Howell Mountain. Anticipated maturity: 2019-2039."
