CUVEE DEL MAULE 09 EARTHQUAKE
For those looking for a wine with a story, Winemaker Baptiste Cuvelier also makes wines in Chile and his first vintage was crafted in 2009 after the Cauquenes region suffered a terrible earthquake! With significant destruction there, the winery did not go untouched, barrels were thrown everywhere. Baptiste picked from surviving barrels, and made the best blend possible producing a startlingly good wine. All the grapes are fair trade and grown organically!
This 100% natural, blend is called Cuvee Del Maule in hommage to the region that was affected and is composed of 36% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Carmenere, 22% Merlot, 6% Carignan, 2% Pais & 4% Cinsault. With aromas of blackberry, currant, blueberry and blackpepper, lead into dark fruit flavors, with plum, expresso, vanilla, spices and a hint of mint. You will enjoy its stucture, complexity, roundness, balance and acidity which bring an amazing lenght. This wine is lush and full, and sure to leave you wanting more!
