COHO 08 "HEADWATER"
Coho is the shared aspiration of Brooks Painter and Gary Lipp to produce flavorful, balanced wines. Grown in select cool-climate vineyards, Coho wines emphasize fruit purity and vitality. Brooks and Gary combined experience working for California wineries totals almost sixty years, both involved in all aspects of their craft, acquiring the skills to bottle passion. Coho’s name might seem curious as it doesn’t invoke images of vineyards or wine, but the salmon embodies an innate wisdom so essential to understanding ourselves and our environment. "Headwaters" is a Bordeaux blend of three varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon (66%) Merlot (32%) and 2% Petite Verdot. Most of the source vineyards for this wine are in the Coombsville area of the Napa Valley; this makes for a rich yet balanced red blend with dense ruby/purple color. Great layers of red currants, wild berry and dried dark fruits with a hint of licorice lead to notes of toasted oak and very well integrated tannins with a long fruit-forward finish.
