Aromas of green apple, tropical fruit and ripe stone fruit combine with a hint of orange blossom on the nose of this wine. The entry is bright and crisp with good acid and flavors of peach, lemon and a hint of minerality. The wine finishes with multiple layers of honey, cream and a touch of caramel from the lees stirred French oak.
The finished wine shows citrus, ripe pear and green apple in the nose. Hints of lush white peach are noticed as the wine opens up. The sur-lie aging has added richness and complexity, and plenty of oak character returns on the finish. Like all of Keenan’s wines, this Chardonnay is a food worthy wine whose crisp acidity and medium body will accompany a wide variety of food fare.

Rockbreak is a one-of-a-kind vineyard site, driven by a soil series littered with ancient river run cobblestones which is blanketed daily by strong coastal influences. Delicate essences of fleshy white peach and citrus rind, an elegant sulfide component, and wet rocks dominate the nose. Tones of lightly grilled Meyer lemons, newly sliced Gravenstein apples and fresh whey. A wonderfully full yet crisply balanced body, well buttressed by vibrant acids that lead to the striking, lingering finish. Native fermentation in barrel; natural acids; aged in same barrels, 15% newer French Oak; 16 months sur lie.
The Kistler plantings on Sonoma Mountain, situated on a hillside bench perfectly suited for growing world class Chardonnay, are interlaced with the rare combination of red volcanic and fine grained chalky soils. These are east facing terraced vineyards, shadowed from the afternoon sun by giant redwoods. This is a remarkable marriage of site and orientation to the cooler trendings of the valley below. They are some of the oldest Chardonnay vineyards in Sonoma County.
This wine is tremendously complex, straw/gold colored wine that really does run the entire gamut. It starts off with Burgundian with intense aromas of green apple and sea spray, flavors of flint and citrus, and is structured by vibrant acidity. As the wine opens, it becomes more and more Californian, with notes of roasted almonds, pineapple, lemon bar, marshmallow, toasted oak, and butter notes. Big, lavish, full-bodied, and mouth-watering, there is a reason why Kistler Chardonnays are requested every day of the year...and this is a GREAT representation of their house style.

There are delicious flavors of pear, white peach and butterscotch intermingling on the palette and a long lingering finish that goes farther than any wine at this price should. This wine is more than just value, as it shows true depth and personality. Winemaker Melissa Stackhouse takes great care in ensuring that this wine is balanced and a marvelous stand out in the great sea of value-priced Chardonnay.
Just a quick whiff reveals great purity, with huge tropical and floral notes. In light of our current economic climate, La Crema Winery hits the mark on quality and availability, all the while delivering it prudently. Oh! And we should mention that Robert Parker said, This Chardonnay / Pinot Noir specialist should receive rave notices from bargain hunters looking for a top-flight Chardonnay that is complex, rich, and widely available. So we are by no means the only people who understand this winery's significance.
