state famous for Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris also work for their sibling Pinot Blanc, giving Adelsheim wines that are racy, yet bold in character. By the 1970's in California, producers found that they had no true Pinot Blanc in the state, so David Adelsheim led a program to import two clones directly from Alsace to Oregon. Thus, David was in on the ground floor with this variety - 1989 was Adelsheim's first vintage.
Vivid green-apple and lemon flavors, this tangy mouthful mixes its high-acid lemony fruit with highlights of pineapple and grapefruit. Nicely delineated, but definitely for those who love acid.

ended up achieving both! While Richard Arrowood has since sold the winery, it is good to see that the new owners are carrying on his same attention to detail that Richard had, and the winemaking staff work hard to keep Arrowood Winery at the top of its game! The grapes come from primarily organic or sustainably-farmed vineyards along the benches, hillsides and mountains of Sonoma County (Monte Rosso is one of those vineyards). Fruit forward, bright aromas of raspberries and cherries are intermixed with cola and subtle oak. On the palate, the tannins are full yet velvety, and the wine shows flavors of cocoa, raspberries, black currants, anise and a hint of minerals. This wine shows a remarkable balance for the pricepoint!

A small amount of Botrytis Cinerea, noble rot, helped intensify the aromatic sweetness of this Riesling. This varietal is fermented in only stainless steel tanks and undergoes no malolactic fermentation. Further fermentation was stopped at 2% residual sugar for optimal balance. This wine is a paean to spring. It is redolent of white flower blossoms and a light balance that begets indulgence. This wine has a nice development of the classic petrol nose and faintly grapefruit-like style so prized by true Riesling addicts.

So when they came out with a Rosé of Pinot Noir, we were eager to taste it and see if this Rosé was just as good as the Pinot Noir.
Even though the winery is being “cute” with the names (Jack & Jill), this wine is a bit more serious. Made using grapes from the same vineyards that go into the Pinot Noir, this wine follows suite with the same great price to quality ratio as the red! Jillhammer shows a lovely light red color and aromas and flavors of rose petals, watermelon, strawberry and pomegranate. Round, juicy, pleasant and easy drinking, this should be great for Easter meals, sandwiches, and is a perfect picnic wine!
