DOMAINE BOECKEL 2010 VV SYLVANER
Sylvaner is something of a specialty at Boeckel, as the village of Mittlebergheim is the only in Alsace permitted to produce a Grand Cru from the varietal (the rare Zotzenberg). This breathtaking value, half of whose fruit is sourced from Zotzenberg, beautifully demonstrates the potential of this often overlooked varietal when old vines are planted in the right kind of chalky soils. While delightful, rich flavors of Asian pear, spearmint, milled grain, and citrus zest inundate the palate with flavor, the wine stays beautifully balanced, elegant, and long and dry on the finish. An ideal partner for the traditional Thanksgiving fare, this would also complement a variety of Asian dishes.
