BLACK SEARS 10 ZN ESTATE
For years, the Black Sears family has sold fruit to some of the best wineries in the Napa Valley. And because the fruit of the Black Sears vineyard is unique and extraordinary, those wineries produced Black Sears “vineyard designated” wines that reflected the distinctive terrain and climate of the Howell Mountain appellation and this beautiful, mountaintop property. Black Sears’ own wines are made by Thomas Rivers Brown, who also makes the wines at Maybach and Schrader. The wine leads with the very distinct and typical Howell Mountain nose of cracked black pepper, beef blood and white and red floral notes. The spicy fruit takes over on the palate with a mix of kirsch, black cherries and what can only be described as “Zinberry” that balances the brambly, briary structure of Howell Mountain. For us, this just might be the best Zinfandel we’ve had in the store in years!
