BERGER 2011 ZWEIGELT 1LT

Zweigelt (pronounced "tsv eye gelt"), a crossing of Blaufränkisch and St. Laurent, was developed in 1922, at the Federal Institute for Viticulture and Pomology at Klosterneuburg, Austria, by Dr. Friedrich "Fritz" Zweigelt. It is now the most widely-grown red grape variety in Austria. Berger's Zweigelt is fresh and unoaked, medium-bodied, and moderate in alcohol. This is a lovely, soft, aromatic red reminiscent of pinot noir in its cherry/raspberry scent and taste. There are subtle herbal notes on the clean finish. Serve this wine slightly cool with anything from a roast pork loin to a grilled cheeseburger. This wine comes in a liter bottle sealed with a crown cap. (Put a bottle stopper or an old cork in the bottle if you don't finish it right away.)
